So let me start off by saying, I am a procrastinator. I am. I do it better than anyone I know and normally it doesn't get me into much trouble. But I seem to have run afoul of some great God in the sky, because I have been getting fucked left and right by this Solar Eclipse.
My state ran out of eclipse glasses because so many were recalled. So with a week left to go I started going crazy trying to find some last minute glasses. Nothing. People put some up for sale on Craigslist for 50 bucks a piece. Pass. Finally, a light in the darkness, a beacon for me to follow, a local coffee company says they have a bunch to hand out the day before.
Sweet merciful sky God, you do listen to my prayers. I don't sleep and just go there an hour before they open, which is 5am, and get my glasses. I go home and get some sweet sweet Z's.
It's magical I have my glasses but the coffee place was insane. We are there an hour early and there's already a line. By the time they actually open the line is out in the street. There are about 15 locations throughout my city and they were all swarmed with procrastinators like me who were desperate. But I got mine I was good.
Let's fast forward the clock about 12 hours. I'm getting ready for bed, have to be up early to see the eclipse and then...I see it. A post from the coffee company, shattering my heart and my illusions of safety with my procrastination being proven again as the righteous path, I got my glasses after all, they've posted a freaking recall.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
I FLIP. I've gotten in contact with everyone I know. All the news outlets claim they are safe. The Facebook post is the only one claiming they aren't. Is this a joke? Were they hacked? They didn't announce it on all social media platforms. Just the one. I guess I'm waiting to see tomorrow morning if they are in fact unusable....

To others planning on seeing it...I hope you can enjoy it. With a heavy heart I'm off to bed. I'll be waking up early with the fervent hope of a child on Christmas that I shall awake to good news.
EDIT: this one person is 100% convinced and even says corporate has released a statement. I'm still naively hoping there is a chance.
