I think this trend being seen and discussed by many, regarding the google-tocracy shutting down accounts and behaving in such a fascist 1984-esque manner, is more than alarming. I would like to share my naivete or very limited understanding/belief and hopefully shed some small bit of light on a more pervasive and frankly invasive problem.
This problem has certainly been talked about, and even addressed in some circles, but I don't believe it is truly understood. That problem is that they, the tech-ocracies Facebook, Google, and their children are not being ruled and/or governed by people; really. They are being managed, ruled, governed, and lead by Artificial Entities which they refer to as "algorithms" which is an obfuscation of the truth. What they really are; is high functional, fully autonomous, artificial intelligentsia.
Their business practices don't make sense to people, and can't be satisfactorily explained by human beings because, they don't make any sense to anyone with a conscience...
This why when you hear nonsense about "our advertisers" don't want this or that, your wondering what kind of dim witted child do you have running your ad. dept. can't they marry content with ads relevant to the content like everyone else in the business world...
