Bowe Bergdahl Pleads Guilty To Desertion
Catching up with the world's scuttlebutt this morning, I ran across a short article on the BBC News Website.
The article was about this young man, to the left, Bowe Bergdahl. If you are not familiar with this young man, I will give you a little background concerning the controversy surrounding him a little further along in this post.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has reported that:
Bowe Bergdahl, the US soldier held as a Taliban captive in Afghanistan for five years, has pleaded guilty to desertion and misbehaviour before the enemy.
The 31-year-old Army sergeant entered his plea on Monday before a military judge at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.—Source: WWW.BBC.COM US & Canada
The article went on to say that Bergdahl's laywers did not believe he would be able to receive a fair trial. The reason being is attributed to remarks made by the now current President of the United States, Donald Trump, during his campaign rallies.

Bergdahl was released by a group of Taliban to a unit of Delta Force Soldiers on Saturday, May 31, 2014 near Khost on the Pakastani and Afghan border. The release was negotiated by the United States agreeing to turn over five Guantanamo Bay detainees to Qatar custody. These five detainees were...
- Taliban Army Chief of Staff
- Taliban Deputy Minister of Intelligence
- a former Taliban interior minister
- two other senior Taliban figures

The release of these detainees, populary known as the Taliban Five sparked a great deal of debate in thehalls of power in Washington as well as among the citizenry within the United States. This is the reason for the controversy regarding the circumstances of Bergdahl's release.
The Congress, in September of 2014 voted 249 to 163 (22 of the 249 were Democratic Congressmen) to condemn President Obama for declining to give Congress thirty days' cognizance concerning the exchanging of Bergdahl.
This is just a little background and some quick news. Have thoughts or comments you would like to share. Please I want hear them. There is more to investigate in this entire situation.Stay tuned...
