RE: The Government Is Terrified You'll Find Out The Truth About Cannabis

Tobacco ban should be a progressive measure in various phases, and I agree consumers should not go to jail.

Singapore and Tasmania for example have banned minors for start smoking when they are adults. Other option is to create a massive campaign that includes medical advisory and stop smoking treatments for free during a long period before applying the ban.

Additives and flavors added to tobacco make it more addictive and harmful. Banning them would help at reducing problems caused by tobacco.

But, if it's banned does that mean people buy it from the black market? Isn't that kind of a bad thing?

Yes, that is the worst side effect of tobacco ban. With current addiction levels, a total ban may cause an explosion of crime organization like alcohol prohibition did.

But the difference between tobacco and any other drug is that tobacco does not have any benefit. While helping people addicted to stop smoking may be difficult, why would anyone start smoking tobacco?

I can think of a few reasons why people start. They aren't worth the horrible health problems but there really is something appealing about smoking ( to me at least). I would consider vaping nicotine or smoking a cigar and restrict myself to once every month or so since the health risks of infrequent smoking aren't large.
