According to information from The Register website, 32TB of data on Windows 10 builds and its source code leaked onto the Web.

Leaked data includes operating system installation images and compiled software components in an 8GB package that were posted to betaarchive.com.

It is believed that the data was stolen from Microsoft systems possibly in March of this year.

The leaked code is part of the Microsoft Shared Source Kit, and according to people who have analyzed its content, it includes the source code for Windows 10 basic drivers, Plug and Play code, USB and WiFi batteries, Storage and OneCore core code for ARM architecture.

Anyone with access to information can scour the leaked code for vulnerabilities, which can be exploited to compromise Windows systems around the world.

In addition, hundreds of Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 builds that were not publicly available were also released on the Web. Builds specifically used by the Windows team were created by Microsoft engineers for testing in limited environments and include components used for debugging. Among these builds are some of the Redstone 2 update, which was officially released as Windows 10 Creators Update.

The Windows 10 Mobile Adaptation Kit, a set of tools for internal Microsoft use is also among the leaked data. This kit is used by the company to make the operating system run on a wide variety of portable and mobile devices.

It is worth remembering that this was not the first time that the Windows source code leaked onto the Web, but this recent leak is something even bigger than the Windows 2000 source code leak in 2004.

Serves them right, code should be shared.

That's serious and would definitely compromise windows, they need to do something about that.
