The best way to support our veterans is to stop creating more of them. Seriously. The U.S. is currently fighting a number of illegal wars that—in addition to killing innocent civilians and destabilizing countries—have left countless veterans suffering as a result.

Our veterans return from these wars suffering from excruciating cases of PTSD, depression, and anxiety, and the VA has failed them miserably. Even though they only account for 8% of the country's population, veterans make up more than 14% of all suicides. (https://nbcnews.to/2B05ww8)

In addition to the fact that veterans are twice as likely as civilians to die by suicide, thousands are suffering from extreme poverty and homelessness, and government estimates indicate that nearly 50,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. (http://bit.ly/2RNYoZv)

All the while, the VA continues to prescribe veterans pharmaceutical drugs with alarming and dangerous side effects, while denying access to the natural medicine that many veterans have credited for saving them from ending their lives. (http://bit.ly/2T4GAeg)

The same government that acts like it "supports" veterans is the one that is failing them on a daily basis, and we owe it to those who have served to start speaking up about two of the wars that have harmed countless veterans—the War on Drugs and the War on Terror.
