Andhra Pradesh has taken the pioneer step of proposing to store residents’ DNA on the blockchain technology. Thus, they have signed an MOU with Project Shivom to ensure the data doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

Putting DNA on the blockchain can be revolutionary. Nowadays, it is affordable to get your entire genome sequenced. If we can create a space (e.g. Blockchain) that is secure enough to encourage the masses to digitize their DNA, so to speak, lots of things will change. I'm particularly excited by the research capacities that will open up when researchers have the opportunity to pay for DNA information.
Shivom is creating a genomics ecosystem on the blockchain. We will offer an open marketplace for healthcare providers to add their apps and services, alongside genomic data analytics and personalized medicine.
