We all need to pay taxes and the governments spend it the way they like. As citizens we need to be able to control the way governments spend our paid taxes. From local, state to federal paid taxes we need to have a check on these governments. It's our money. Or it was our money. That doesn't really matter. What matters is that our elected government officials has forgotten their true task to represent the tax paying citizens. In general, most elected officials, has no real working experiences besides paid governments jobs. Too many politicians never had to work to get bread on the table. It's a shame we've elected these people or we're to stupid to know better.
In my point of view, government is a necessarily evil. But the politicians ruling class of nowadays is losing touch with the real world. Politicians are not the smartest minds in the country, but the ones who have the best connection within their political party. This is how in the Netherlands we have a minister of Finance, who studied agricultural economy and has no experience what so ever in the real world of global finance. As head of the Eurozone finance group he's very influential, but the implemented policies are devastating for the EU and the world.
The average citizen in Europe pays more than half of his income to the government. So work one year and at least 6 months were for paying taxes. It's complete madness and unacceptable. The governments in the EU wants to increase their tax revenue to fill the gaps of the budget deficit. What they are not realizing is when you tax more, you'll get less revenue, because the economy will slow down.
The European project will become a true disaster and the European dream will be a nightmare sooner rather than later, as the pensions in Europe are underfunded as a result of the ECB policies. Waiting for the music to stop.
