Russia stands with Iran against the amendment of the nuclear agreement

Russia has joined Iran in refusing to amend the nuclear deal between Tehran and the major powers after US President Donald Trump threatened to withdraw from him within four months if his provisions were not amended.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Saturday that the deal with Iran over its nuclear program could not be corrected and that his country would face attempts to undermine it.

In response to Trump's comments on the nuclear deal - concluded by Iran with the Group of Six (the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China) in July 2015 - Ryabkov said the comments confirmed Moscow's concerns about the United States' intention to breach the agreement.

He added that the extension of the US sanctions on Iran ninety days is nothing but a synthesis of Washington's decision to end the joint action plan, noting that his country assesses the US president's comments on the nuclear agreement with Iran is very negative.
