Why is it acceptable for the government to paint everything rainbow colored for pride month?

If someone were to paint something red for say, Pro-Life awareness for example the media firestorm would be incredible. I bet you if a city did something like that to support a pro-life cause people would come out and say they felt physically threatened by it.

Maybe, just maybe, it's never acceptable for the government to promote political causes. No, but if you question why the government is doing these sorts of things you're just a hater and a bigot.

The double standard with all of this is just so infuriating.

As a liberty-lover, I could care less if you're gay. Do your thing. You be you. But government should get out of promoting one group over another.

Sort:

Does it help to know this is how they paint those rainbows?

Short Answer

It is not acceptable. Whoever is in this government is

  • not representing the majority of the people
  • wasting tax payer money to appease a small group of people
  • is a criminal.

Remember. Government is just other people. Dispose!

It's an interesting question, and it's reasonable to have some debate about the role of government in this context. For me, it's about equality and recognising the past. The LGBTQ community aren't a movement, a charity, or a cause, we're people who have only recently been able to make some progress to have equal rights and protections. By government recognising and supporting LGBTQ people (through an occasion such as Pride Month), it's an opportunity to demonstrate that equality is important, but also to demonstrate to the rest of the world that supporting equality for LGBTQ people is the right thing to do.
