The Salvadoran solidarity groups with Cuba rejected today the most recent maneuver by the United States to intensify its economic blockade against the island, in spite of the worldwide condemnation.
A gala to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution led to the condemnation of Washington's threats to reactivate Title III of the Helms Burton Act, which violates international law.
René Ceballo, Cuba's ambassador to this Central American nation, repudiated the slanderous and disrespectful language used by the US State Department to announce this reinforcement of the so-called 'embargo'.
"The blockade flagrantly violates the human rights of Cubans and constitutes the main obstacle to the development of our country," the diplomat reiterated amid massive demonstrations of support.
The assistants recognized that, despite the economic encirclement of the northern power, Cuba achieved multiple social gains and shared its knowledge with those who need it, like the Salvadoran people.
In this regard, Ceballo expressed the gratitude of his country for the solidarity of Salvadorans who feel the Cuban Revolution as their own and their support for this country in education, culture, health and other fields.
The government of El Salvador, habitual accompanist of the Cuban struggle against the US blockade, has already been informed about the extraterritorial nature of the new measures announced by Washington.
Title III of the Helms-Burton Act allows to sue foreign companies and citizens who have invested in US properties nationalized in Cuba in the 1960.
