Due to fraud in the last year, the banks have lost more than Rs. 16,789 crore. The Finance Ministry said this information in the Lok Sabha on Friday. This is said in the Times of India news.
The Reserve Bank said, according to the reports of frauds deposited from various commercial banks and financial institutions, the amount of rupees 16 thousand 789 billion rupees made through fraud in 2016-17 fiscal year State Minister for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said in a written reply.
State Minister for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said that an inter-related permanent committee has been set up on cyber security with the Reserve Bank of India, Information Security Audit, Forensic and Cyber Security experts. The review and observation of the committee recommends the inherent threat and appropriate policy of existing or emerging technology with others. Responding to another question, he said that in the year 2016-17 fiscal year, news of bank robbery and theft was found in different areas of the country. The amount of money involved in these incidents is around 65 crore 30 lakh rupees.
In addition, 393 cases were filed in the first half of the current fiscal year of 18 crore 48 lakh rupees. Shukla said, in these incidents, the Reserve Bank of India has advised banks to increase the security of their branches and ATMs at different times.
Responding to another question, State Minister P Radhakrishnan said, recently the new counterfeit notes of 500 rupees and 2000 rupees were confiscated. In this case, the serial number of most notes is the same, he said. He said, according to existing records, the companies concerned did not report any high quality net about 500 and 2000 rupees new notes fixed under the illegal activities (prevention) laws.
