Spain's parliament ousted high Minister Mariano Rajoy Friday in a no-self belief vote sparked via fury over his birthday party's corruption woes, paving the manner for a takeover by way of opposition leader Pedro Sanchez.
An absolute majority of 180 lawmakers voted for the motion, making Rajoy the first top minister to be ousted in a no-self assurance vote because Spain transitioned to democracy in 1977. There have been 169 no votes and one lawmaker abstained.
The forty six-year-antique Sanchez is now the top minister-in-waiting. Spain's King Felipe VI nevertheless has to swear him in.
Rajoy, one of Europe's longest-serving heads of government, misplaced the vote following corruption convictions final week related to former contributors of his conservative popular birthday celebration.
