Just another Tuesday in the new Sweden...

in #news7 years ago

When I turned on the computer this morning it hit me (again) how bad things have become here in Sweden. I know most of you aren't able to read Swedish but still, here's a picture from the front page of the state run newspaper. It's not some alarmist agenda, quite the opposite actually.

These headlines are all from the same time this morning, they happened yesterday evening in one area of Swedish so it's not some round up of the whole Sweden.

The first headline reads: "Guards to be put in after attacks on busses", in small: "The traffic was cancelled during parts of the evening" and the text in red at the top: "Restlessness in Gottsunda and Valsätra"

This is literally nothing to even raise your eyebrows at anymore, which is the really sad part. Stone-throwing young men from middle-east and Africa are able to run amok, attacking everyone from young kids to our elderly and in between those they pass the time attacking our public transportation, the police, journalists, fire-fighters, etc.

The next headline, directly underneath the first one reads:
tis2.png
"TV: Here, the photographer escapes the stone-thrower" and the second line: "Of course, you fear for your life."

Nothing more needs be said, really.

Third headline:
tis3.png
"New attack with stones against the police - Side window destroyed on police car"

Fourth headline:
tis5.png
"Emergency workers attacked while trying to fight a fire - Adolescents threw glass bottles at the emergency vehicles in Uppsala"

Yeah, about those "adolescents", it's a state-run newspaper so that's obviously not the whole story.

Sort:

Sorry, I have followed the violence happening it Sweden. It's pretty horrendous and I can't fathom why people put up with it. But it is not just in Sweden, check out Germany, France, Spain, Italy, US etc. It seems like everywhere you look there is dissension. So I don't understand why people anywhere put up with it. Bottom line, I'm confused. Hoping it gets better but...

I guess a lot of people are quite unaware of what's actually going on. They see a few headlines every now and then and shrugs it off but never really stops and thinks about the bigger picture, of all the events together. I honestly think it'll get a lot worse before we see any real change for the better but I'm perhaps too pessimistic.

I think the best we can do right now is to try to build from the bottom up instead of putting our trust in politicians. Talk to the people you care about and make sure you and your family are safe and sound, that's what I'm trying to do!

I think you are right. Keep up to date and keep the one's close informed. Hoping changes happen for the good.
