Mercedes' victory in a race like the Germans love to win: 1-2 and a wide result. Hamilton gets his second win of the year in a row at the Spanish F1 2018 GP with a Bottas who just does his squire's job and the rest completely out of reach.
Quiet race for Mercedes at F1 2018 Spanish Grand Prix
Neither Ferrari or RedBull could stop the advance of Mercedes, the current F1 champion, during the whole weekend of the race at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit. Lewis Hamilton takes a superb victory where he warns that it seems that the problems of the first races are a thing of the past and at the Brackley factory in the UK, they are getting data that will improve the knowledge of this season's Pirelli Formula 1 tyres.
A discreet but very intelligent Finnish driver, Valtteri Bottas, was placed in the second position with authority, consolidating himself as "The perfect escort or squire for the Mercedes team" in comparison with the terrible relationship he experienced a few seasons ago during the epic internal battles between Lewis Hamilton and the German driver Nico Rosberg to win the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship, and as many of us who know the history, we know that the Teutonic managed to get his own way.
Ferrari between Kimi's catastrophe and Sebastian's bad strategy
A gray weekend for the Italian team, especially in the race, with the battery problem that forced the Finnish driver, Kimi Raikkonen, to abandon the race on lap 25 of the Spanish F1 2018 GP, as well as the fatal mistake in the strategy that caused him to lose Sebastian Vettel 3 valuable points for the championship and the podium at Montmeló. It is time to analyse the weak points and prepare better for the next appointment in the streets of Monaco.
A RedBull team with limited options, unfortunately
Not a very positive weekend for RedBull either. However, compared to the crash between their two drivers on the streets of Baku a couple of weeks ago, this weekend they were able to recover lost points and continue to move forward as the third force in current F1.
Haas: Although disaster follows, today they scored points at the F1 2018 Spanish Grand Prix.
In the first lap, barely on turn 3 and in the middle of the track, the French driver Romain Grosjean lost control of his car, the Haas VF18, which then hit Nico Hulkenberg's Renault and Pierre Gasly's Toro Rosso, causing the Safety Car on track condition, while the track was cleared of the trash from the cars involved in the terrible accident. An unfortunate fact, seeing how well the US team's cars were performing all weekend, made them clear aspirants for points during the F1 2018 Spanish Grand Prix. However, it wasn't all negative, as the Haas VF18 was driven by a constant Kevin Magnussen, who gives the team a good amount of points after finishing the race in 6th place after taking advantage of the retirement of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari.
Spanish-speaking pilots at the points
Good news for the Spanish and Mexicans! Carlos Sainz with his Renault, Fernando Alonso with his McLaren Renault and Sergio "Checo" Perez with his Force India Mercedes have signed a solid 7°, 8° and 9° places respectively in this Spanish F1 2018 Grand Prix, being able to manage, each one on his own, their races from behind, as well as waging interesting fights on the track and giving joy to the fans who came to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to see their idols give their all to shine in the middle of the grid.
Sauber continues to surprise after Charles Leclerc's 10th place finish
An inspired Charles Leclerc has managed to score points in 2 consecutive grand prix already. The Monegasque driver, spearheading the young Ferrari drivers' project (Ferrari Driver Academy) made a solid race to sign that 10th place with which he adds one more point to the cause of the Alfa Romeo Sauber team, which apparently suits him several types of circuits and conditions, in addition to dealing with different race situations.
In short, the discreet Sauber and the rookie Leclerc are giving a very pleasant surprise this F1 2018 season.
