you can almost add egypt to that list. decades of US "aid", which is really just another word for "bribe" of the government of the day to act as the Puppet in the middle east to further the cause of US and Israel. Problem is however - that these leaders have been heavily corrupt - Mubarak got kicked out by his own people after 30 years - and the first time the country had a democratically elected leader - he was removed via a military coup - though the US refuse to call it that. The current leader is about as corrupt as Mubarak, actually released him from prison - and threw the democratically elected leader into prison. The US and Israel are happy as they're back in control, and in my opinion they likely had a heavy hand in the coup to begin with.
The country took a massive step forward in the revolution of 2011, only to then take about 5 steps back when the Coup happened.. it's such a shame as you'll probably be seeing this country gradually decline for years to come.
