A Champion's Mindset :: MAYWEATHER v. McGREGOR 🥊

in #news7 years ago (edited)

Back when I had a TV, I could barely watch the evening news.

I couldn't accept the gruesome violence and harsh realities as my norm. Nope. Too empathic to watch those things, without lingering disturbance.

So my enthusiasm for tonight's Fight makes little sense to me!

Concussions. Eyes swollen shut. Bloody mouths. ::Images of Ali, unable to speak, because of too many blows to the head.::

There is every reason for me to overlook this modern-day gladiator spectacle.

Yet, I've been DRAWN...

... to the "trash" talking -- which is often highly motivating, actually;

... to the pre-fight build-up, teasers and interviews; and especially

... to the mindset of each fighter.

I am no sports analyst, but I do observe and admire certain human behaviors. These two contenders are FULL of traits and accomplishments that make me go, "WOW, anything IS possible!"

The stakes are high, and so interestingly matched.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER, JR.:

Undefeated five-division world champion boxer, in his 40s. Also...

High school dropout, raised in poverty by a drug-addicted mom...

now living in a custom-built mansion, while being listed as the highest paid athlete in the world.

It's not the acquired material-stuff that so impresses me. It's the friggin TRAJECTORY Mayweather allowed himself to experience!

Several of his "accomplishments" include domestic violence and battery against women. I think he's crude and dishonoring in the way he talks about women, but I can only respect the way he transcended his tough beginnings.

He retired for the second time in 2015, and came out of retirement just to fight Connor in a couple hours! This will be his 50th fight. He won the previous 49.

CONNOR McGREGOR:

The thing that attracted me to this fight was a video I came across of Connor McGregor talking about HIS ACTIVE USE OF THE LAW OF ATTRACTION.

He started visualizing as a teen, and he has used his mind's eye all throughout his mixed martial art (MMA) training and career.

It was refreshing to hear a professional athlete credit the success of his physical career, to his imaginative mind.

In McGregor's private training gym, is a visionary mural of him giving Mayweather a left-handed, knock-out punch. I'm visual, too, so understand and strongly like his use of visual reinforcement.

This 29-year old, Irish, mixed martial artist is the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion. Tonight is his first professional boxing match!

I love it Erika! I totally understand you on this. MacGregor's vision, outspoken belief and insane dedication make him one of the highest achieving people in MMA, and is really inspiring! I think there's a lot of positive to take away from this contest. And plus with all the bad news we see, it's a nice break from our own struggles to cheer for someone, and watch two masters at work. ❤ from PV!

Yes, we need that undefeatable mindset to succeed. I actually saw you @erikaharris at you tube with your interview @terrybrock and thank you for the tips that you give. I don't know how to private message you so I can only come to your blog. Upvoted you here and followed. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for following up with me here, @rosatravels! I'm happy to meet you, and follow you now.

I just made a post, which has Chinese translation in it. I'd be grateful to learn your thoughts about it?

Thanks for the beautiful things you put in the world!

Thank you @erikaharris for your kind words. I will take a look.

Did you bet on the fight Erika? What do you think will happen?

I didn't bet, @inhale, but my hopes are with McGregor. How 'bout you?

I want McGregor to win too but I think it's unlikely. I didn't bet either this is such a crazy spectacle I just want to enjoy it. I've never seen someone as good defensively as Floyd.

Oh Ya Meat Club grilling something good and front rowing this too

Why is this here, @acab1312news?! I dunno... kinda gross, lol

I'm at an Irish pub getting ready to watch the fight now. My money is on McGregor. Should be a great fight

@churdtzu, ::day.after::... he's still a champ to me! :-)
