Over time it is normal for women to gain a little weight and have to change their clothes to a larger size, however, this can help you predict the risk of breast cancer.
According to a study published in the BMJ Open, women who increase waist size, that is, increase a skirt size between 20 and 60 years, have a higher risk of breast cancer after menopause.
The research specifies that women who increase a skirt size in a 10-year period, after they reach 25 years of age, increase their risk of breast cancer by 33%. Meanwhile, those that increase two sizes, have a 77% risk.
"The risk of a postmenopausal woman developing breast cancer in the next five years increases from 1 in 61 to 1 in 51 with an increase in skirt size over a 10-year period," the researchers say.
The fact that skirt size is an indicator that helps predict breast cancer, is because the fat around the waist is more harmful than that which accumulates in any other part of the body.
"Body fat around the waist is more metabolically active than adipose tissue elsewhere, because it increases the levels of estrogen, a hormone that promotes the growth of breast cancer tumors."
To avoid the development of tumors, it is best to maintain a healthy life, that is, a balanced weight and diet, the practice of exercise, as well as reduce the intake of alcohol and tobacco. And you, how do you prevent breast cancer?...
