South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) gave President Jacob Zuma 48 hours to resign as head of state on Monday after an eight-hour meeting of the party’s top leadership, the SABC state broadcaster said.

Party leader Cyril Ramaphosa's motorcade left a marathon ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at 1030 pm (2030 GMT) for the presidential residence close to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to convey the message face to face, the SABC stated, refering to sources.
Since Ramaphosa was voted in as leader in December, Zuma hosts confronted mounting assembles from his party to end his outrage tormented second term a year early.

The NEC meeting in a Pretoria conference center had every one of the elements for a standoff between Zuma stalwarts and those calling for a quick exchange of power to ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa.
The 65-year-old said on Sunday the gathering was relied upon to "finish" the situation

The party leader has the power to order Zuma to advance down as head of state, despite the fact that there is some household media theory that he may yet won't.
Since getting to be president in 2009, Zuma has been encumbered by outrage. Ramaphosa has put the attention on finding corruption and rejuvenating financial development. This is however, a man that had not publicly spoken out against Jacob Zuma until he was party president and running for State.
There are so many charges leveled against Zuma(793 from 1 case) I cannot see him resigning when he holds the power of the state and its police institutions and state security. His predicament also calls on him having to protect his son, Duduzane Zuma, from prosecution ranging from corruption to extortion.

The ANC NEC had previously done this to get Jacob Zuma into power, realising it was a huge mistake for the party's voting base, they vowed never to do it again at the NEC held in December. If all goes ahead, a motion of No Confidence will take place on Feb 22nd. It will be his ninth and final, proving a cat does indeed have nine lives.
