Star Citizen, perhaps the most ambitious game ever conceived, has now passed an incredible milestone of two hundred million dollars raised by crowdfunding.
When we took the screenshot below from the official crowdfunding page, the game raised $ 200,078,978 to be exact, thanks to 2,123,048 supporters. A quick calculation of mathematics tells us that they contributed an average of $ 94.28 each.
Game process
The Hangar module was the first Star Citizen game alpha component released on August 29, 2013. The module allows players to view, control, and modify a ship in a closed environment in real time. Also includes decorations and awards that can be placed in the hangar.
Arena Commander is the second Star Alpha gaming alpha component. This is a space combat simulator that allows players to test a ship in battle against other players or artificial intelligence. According to the developers, it shows a very detailed model of the flight of the ship, simulating a space flight depending on the mass of the spacecraft, the position in space and the thrust force of the engine. Other claimed features include: a realistic effect of gravity on the pilot and a high level of visual accuracy. In the update, contests and cooperative games were added.
Multiplayer online shooter added to the alpha version 2.6, according to the developers, it should help players get started in shooting. In parallel with this update, the ability to carry weapons in the sandbox has been added to the game.
The initial release date for Star Marine was announced in 2015. It is a first-person shooter, as well as Arena Commander, Star Marine - combat space simulator. There are two ways to play Star Marine, one of the ways to play "grab-and-hold". “Last resisted”, where two teams of rivals (infantrymen and criminals), each of which is trying to capture one or more “control points” (laptops) to earn points. By capturing more control points, the team gets points with an ever-increasing level (rating). “The Exception” is free for all in the “Last Restored” game. Unlike the main “Last Resisted” team, players work individually to kill as many enemies as possible before the match ends. Both games last 10 minutes or (in the case of the game “Last established”) until one of the teams has accumulated the most points. The mechanics of a first-person shooter are presented quite realistically, the levels of armor, the position of the weapon and the effects of stamina, manifested in the form of heavy breathing.
Crusader, also known as the Alpha 2.0 mini-constant universe, was released on December 11, 2015 (all subsequent versions of Alpha were additions and modifications to the Crusader module). This module combines aspects of the gameplay of the module Hangar, Arena Commander and Star Marine into one multiplayer platform. This module allows players to move freely in outer space, centered around in-game fictional planets and their surrounding satellites. Space stations, asteroids and other interesting places in the game allow players to interact, be involved in hostilities, or carry out missions. Given the modular approach to development, options will be added to the Crusader module, it will be expanded and later will be known as Star Citizen.!
