Steemit is a life-changing opportunity; I just wish more people knew this! Steemians everywhere share this sentiment, and it's particularly frustrating because the network does not get the media coverage it deserves.
Even worse, when it does, the coverage is not at all bullish. Remember that Steemit is the Facebook killer, but the mainstream has difficulty conceptualizing that. Facebook stock sells for $153. STEEM, in sharp contrast, is a little over $2.
Absolute "Scheisse" Coverage
How bad is the mainstream coverage of Steemit? If you Google "CNBC, Steemit," one of my Steemit posts actually pops up on the first page! That absolutely does not happen to me for fairly generic search terms.
When the mainstream does cover our beloved network, publications are quick to snipe at our collective ambitions. A great example is the Yahoo Finance piece, "Meet the Reddit-like social network that rewards bloggers in bitcoin." https://finance.yahoo.com/news/steem-steemit-bitcoin-reddit-cryptocurrency-000000501.html
Writer Daniel Roberts generally wrote a positive piece about Steemit. However, when his interviewee @heiditravels mentioned that "Steemit is going to blow Facebook out of the water," he responded with "At this point, that’s likely a stretch." This, despite the fact that he earned $120, to which he remarked, "Not bad."
What!? Is there any other platform, any other industry, from which you can make over a Benjamin for saying hello? Jeez...people submit themselves to experimental rectal examinations for that kind of money (not that I'm speaking from personal experience).
There just seems to be a big disconnect between the opportunity and the coverage.
Two Can Play This Game!
As far as I'm aware, Steemit hasn't generated hardly any media attention since the summer crash of last year. But with the STEEM currency rising above $2, I think it's time we change all that.
I just finished an article for InvestorPlace Media that I will submit for publication. I was asked to write about Facebook, and I did, with a major twist! :) Certainly, investors can rely upon the steadiness of FB in their portfolios. But no company, including Facebook, can stay complacent for long. I think that's good advice, if I say so myself.
I am hoping that this article generates considerable interest. At minimum, it should be redistributed by Nasdaq.com, which has posted Steemit-related content in the past. What would be awesome is if MSN Money, or even Yahoo Finance, could redistribute as well.
But because InvestorPlace has a sponsorship deal with E*Trade, no matter who picks up the article, the Steemit network will finally get positive coverage. I can't wait to share it with you all once it's officially published!
If You'd Like to Help!
If you'd like to help get more cryptocurrency coverage on InvestorPlace Media, you may contact them and request exactly that.
Per their website:
We love hearing from our readers and value your feedback. For comments and questions related to stories on InvestorPlace.com, please email us at editor@investorplace.com.
I'd love to write more mainstream articles about cryptos, but so far, the SEO for the digital markets isn't exactly uber-popular. Your feedback will go a long way in convincing mainstream publications into jumping onboard!
And as always, thank you all very much, especially to my followers, for your kind support! :)
Yes, and Steemcoin definitely deserves more coverage. If they don't want to give credit where credit is due, that's their tough luck. I wonder how many of those people in the media are secretly buying Steemcoins for themselves???
I doubt that they bought STEEM since they have such a hard time with bitcoin. However, I'd like to change all that -- hopefully, tomorrow will be a BIG FUCKING DAY for Steemit! :)
Thanks to the openness and optimism of our community, Steemit is sure to skyrocket to the moon as our ranks swell up by the day with even more talent and creativity.
I'm doing my part to spread the word by posting every Steemit blog of mine on my Twitter and blasting it to all of my friends and followers!
Yup! I can personally attest to the fact that Steemit rewards you for what you put in...if you stay consistent with your work and engagement, the rewards will come!
Exactly, constant active participation will reap enormous rewards down the line as well as boost your knowledge and experience!
as I am new here and I joined properly a few days back and also i did worked on youtube and many other platforms , @bullishmoney I think it is a matter of few days people will start joining this amazing Community...
I share your optimism...and when my article goes live, I think I can sway at least a few hundred! :)
Great post. How did you find about the amazing supplemental income from rectal examinations?
Following you. Can't wait to read more.
Very painfully, I would imagine! :)
Steemit is going to be huge in my opinion. If this type of blockchain technology really takes off, which I assume it will, there will be copy cat blockchains that work in the same ways, but will come later on. This may mean that Steemit will be the first, sort of how bitcoin is the first of it's kind and all other cryptocurrencies use the Bitcoin name to promote their own systems. All future site-blockchain systems will compare themselves to steemit to promote their own systems, which will benefit the steemit system as a whole and promote it's authority in the space.
I completely agree...and my article forwards that argument, so I'm hoping it gains traction :)
The way steemit community is going strong...I think it is a matter of few days when everyone will start joining our community...
I'll give it a few years, just out of respect for the giant albatross of Facebook, but yes, I agree with your ultimate assessment!
point take...I also did an interest trend analysis on Facebook...feel free to check out my post
Based on your analysis, I can see why you're so confident on the Steemit transition. I had no idea interest fell that low! :)
With Twitter under fire, people leaving others because of censoship, YouTube not paying people for content creation we are gonna see a surge soon
So true...I find it funny -- not that I'm a barometer of anything -- that I got the green light to write about social media at this juncture! :)
I can agree with that lol
Sometimes everything falls into place like it was scripted by the "universal stuff" to happen that way.
Hopefully the universe wants Steemit to take the seat as the new social media king!
At the risk of sounding like a complete nut-job -- too late, I can hear people saying! :) -- I get the feeling that it's definitely scripted by the "universal stuff," as you state...
Big up-vote for having the courage to say that :)
I've had enough "synchronicity" and/ or "odd coincidences" in my life to give that hypothesis a fair chance. TBH, I'm about 50/ 50 on the freewill versus determinism debate.
Yeah, I'm with you there...personally -- and I know this doesn't really make much sense in our terrestrial paradigm -- but maybe Calvinism and free will don't have to be mutually exclusive concepts. Of course, my head hurts trying to reconcile what I just said, so I'll just stick with the concept that coincidences aren't necessarily just that :)
Welcome to my world :)
I've spent countless hours trying to wrap my mind around these types of philosophical topics. Another one that kills me is trying to reason out existence or trying to imagine the antithesis.
It seems to me we have to concede that certain things can't ever be known...and that stings people like me a lot, but that's part of life.
That works for me :)
Oh it will I guarantee it Twitter is struggling with 45 million bots, ISIS running wild, over 4k cp accounts and banning conservative accounts its like the wild west there. Give it a year twitter is only sticking around cause people dont know of other options
Between that and what's happening on YouTube and the speculative growth of the crypto-market, Steemit is primed for mainstream adoption.
Yep yep if YouTube doesnt want to pay we will take them lol
I think we can get a lot of Redditors to join this wonderful community. We can also replicate a lot of the more popular subreddits as well.
That would fire-up a storm of volume, I'd think. Reddit users LOVE their platform!
Screw media. Keep buying.
It will come. It's a waiting game.
Yes, that's a common sentiment, but the mainstream coverage only helps to normalize the blockchain concept.
Have you ever come across an explanation of blockchain for the "General Population"? Like maybe a Blockchain for Dummies?
No, I haven't come across anything like that, but that would be an AWESOME title! :)
Excellent blog as always!
What happens though if Facebook release their own version of Steem? (i.e paying / rewarding people)
Then I'm going back to Facebook! ...Just kidding!
In all seriousness, I haven't thought about that. My gut feeling is that it won't happen. This is conspiratorial, mind you, and I have ZERO evidence to back this up, but...FB is run by elitist goons, Mark Zuckerberg is the front face of a nefarious organization. I highly doubt that FB would want anything to do with proliferating blockchain technology, which is not really "controllable," per say.
Okay, there you have it! Hopefully, you don't think I'm totally nuts :)
You're not nuts!!
But I think there is a good chance that FB will eventually want to compete, especially if lots of people stop using their site. I can only hope that it would be a 'Microsoft' type situation where they react to the threat (Apple) far to late in the day.
I'm probably just being pessimistic!!
My gut also tells me that they're too late if that's the case; I think there's another Steemit competitor named Yours.org, or something to that effect, but it hasn't panned out yet. Obviously, FB is a ginormous entity, but it's hard to duplicate the kind of explosive synergy that Steemit has, irrespective of the money.
Oh, by the way, I just logged onto Facebook and this creepy as shit advertisement popped up!
That's some crazy sh*t!!
Have you been researching illuminati on FaceBook? Lol!!
No, not even once did I type anything illuminati related on FB...then again, all these elite scum are related to each other! :)
