Ntumfor Barister Nico Halle has reaffirmed his commitment towards defending press freedom, journalists and media workers in Cameroon and beyond.
The Legal mind and Peace crusader was speaking in Douala February 12 to a delegation of the Cameroon Journalists’ Trade Union CJTU North West Chapter during a visit to the Halle Law Firm at the close of the National Elective Congress of the Trade Union.
The mission of the delegation to the Halle Law Firm was to meet and present the chapter to the legal luminary of International repute and to solicit legal aid in times of need. According to the delegation made up of some executives and members, journalists practicing in the crisis hit North West Region are facing several challenges. These challenges they detailed include harassment, intimidation and arrest by security operatives sometimes masterminded by persons who consider the work of journalists a threat to their activities.
While thanking the Senior Barrister at Law for always standing by the press in challenging times with several instances noted, they solicited with the Halle Law Firm to continue with the same spirit mindful of the fact that journalists may not be able to afford the huge financial requirement that can make up for such legal services.
