I have been using the awesome Choon since it first launched and I have been extremely impressed with the professionalism of the team (@garethemery, etc.).
They have a roadmap (which includes a redesign in answer to your questions about the interface) and they have delivered on it (and then some) so far.
Obviously no one knows how much NOTES are worth at the moment so it's anyone's guess as to how this will compare to Spotify et al but it has to be better otherwise there would be no point.
I get that warm fuzzy feeling about Choon as they seem "human". Every support email I have sent has been responded to in a timely manner and even when they had to warn me that I was violating one of their Ts & Cs (who reads those? :P) they did it in a friendly way.
Have you tried to get in contact with someone at Spotify???
