Stephen King Has Watched 'It' Twice And Loved It

in #news7 years ago

Stephen King has already worked his way into horror folklore having written some of the scariest books ever, but movie adaptations of his novels keep on coming.

Right now everybody is anticipating the remake of It, which was first seen when the 1986 novel was adapted into a miniseries in 1990.

The film will first be released in Belgium and Germany on September 6, before it makes its way to the UK and US two days later.
The few first people to get a sneak peek of the film revealed their feelings describing the movie as incredibly scary, but also giving it praise for its humour.
However, the man whose opinion on the film matters most is Stephen King's, who was surprised at how good it is.

"I had hopes, but I was not prepared for how good it really was," King told Bloody Disgusting. "It's something that's different, and at the same time, it's something that audiences are gonna relate to. They're gonna like the characters.

"To me, it's all about character. If you like the characters... if you care... the scares generally work."

He added: "I'm sure my fans will enjoy the movie. And I think some of them will go back two or three times and actually savour the thing.

"I went back and saw it a second time, and I felt I was seeing things the second time through that I missed the first time."

I don't think there's any higher praise for a director than the author of the book you're making into a film saying he went back a second time to watch it again.

It turns out King is already a fan of director Andy Muschietti's work.

He said: "I knew Andy's work from Mama, and I thought he was a really, really talented director. And I also loved the idea of concentrating on the kids' half of the story.

"Skarsgård was great as Pennywise, and he's got big shoes to fill. Let's face it. Because people remember Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown, and they remember the look that Pennywise had."

There's just a week to go now, so get September 8 in your diaries.
