cVIGIL - Mobile Application

in #news6 years ago (edited)

Hello, friends today I am going to talk about the mobile application "cVIGIL" that has been launched by Election Commision Of India for the citizens to enable them to report on the violation of election code of conduct. This application has been launched by Cheif Election Commissioner Shri O.P Rawat with the Election Commissioners Shri Sunil Arora and Shri Ashok Lavasa on July 3 2018.

FEATURES

  1. User-friendly and easy to operate

  2. Operational where elections are announced

  3. Beta version(software given to large people of users for testing) of the app would be available for public and election staff

These are some important features of this application.

Now talking further about the use of this application Election Commision is planning to make available this application in upcoming elections in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Mizoram and Rajasthan. The use of this application in these upcoming four elections would also make sure of its presence in upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Android jelly bean and above

  2. Camera

  3. Good internet connection and GPS access

HOW IT WORKS
Citizens in election state would be able to report against violations of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) which comes into effect after the announcement date of election till a day after the polls. If a person sees any kind of violation then he/she has to immediately click a picture or record a video (up to 2 minutes) and upload it on the cVIGIL application. After submitting the citizen will get a very unique ID to track and receive the follow-up updates on his/her mobile. The identity of the citizen would be kept confidential.

The app has inbuilt features to prevent its misuse as we all also know that if something is introduced it has two aspects positive and negative similarly, in this case, one can use it properly as it is made to do that and on another side it can be misused as well that's why this app has inbuilt features to prevent its misuse. It will only receive complaints about Model Code of Conduct violations and also it would be only working in the state where elections are held.

The person who would be clicking a picture or recording video will get only 5 minutes of time to report an incident. The app would also not allow the uploading of pre-recorded videos or old photos and also the picture or video that would be taken through this application to report would also not get saved in the phone gallery

CONCLUSION
So this is really a very good application introduced by Election Commision of India to stop the violations that happen during the election time. The application just launched this month and really looking forward what benefits it gives so my article ends here letting you all know about this initiative taken by Election Commision and I would suggest you all download this application and also suggest your relatives and friends about it so to stop the violations.
