Due to the lack of posts about this here on Steem I decided to link some of the work reddit user @M7plusoneequalsm8 (lol at the username) has done by sharing many relevant tweets and updating it constantly. For easier viewing and not to have to open the tweets each time I'll be posting them in screenshots here if they are longer than the title or have video content.
All credit to the above mentioned user, I'll link this post to him and will offer him a free Steem account and all the rewards this post generates if he is interested.

The onion:
Crazy times to be alive, people.
We must wean ourselves off oil as soon as possible. I have zero doubts as to the ability of the peoples of the Middle East to continue their 5000-year hate fest but if crude oil becomes much less valuable, at least the hate will be better contained within the region and great powers will stay away.
And I saw a BBC story saying that “at least” 10 missiles hit the bases. Supposedly, the U.S. has great surface-to-air defenses, but how much help were they?
The Onion piece says it best.
You can't justify "retaliation" without "casualties".
Yeah according to the tweet above it said none of the missiles were stopped but at the same time no us casualties so I wonder if they evacuated before the attacks took place.
Duck and cover is the easiest type of missile defense and it works, especially on a military base where everyone is trained to do just this. It's cheap and effective and makes the attack seem pointless.
Spendong a few million dollars on patriot missiles which aren't going to cause that much danage doesn't make sense.
Iran told Iraq and Iraq told U.S. the attacks were coming. This was all pre planned so Iran could save face and show they retaliated against the U.S.
This is bad. Very bad. For the first time I'm feeling very nervous that this conflict will absolutely escalate. I hope all of this will be deescalated somehow. Thanks for sharing the updates (I was already curious why nobody talks about it here)
I'm sad. Iran firing missiles at US bases in Iraq won't bring the martyred general back to life or encourage Americans to pull out and allow Iran to rule the Middle East as they wish while developing nukes and controlling international oil markets.
Besides, North Korea is supposed to be the focus of American drama, not Iran. Also, for Trump lovers North Korea is an easier target since the cringe value for siding with North Korea is too high for even the most enthusiastic #OrangeManBad people.
Thank you ...This is the most info I've seen of the situation so far.
Welcome to the shitshow!
This is going to be a shit show. This is the last thing we need in the world now after experiencing two deadly world wars. I hope this is resolved and doesn't get out of hand as it already seems to be.

What a $#!+show 2020 is turning out to be. And now a downed airplane.
Really is a worry. The knock on effects of both the reality and the fake news. Urgh!
Hopefully this doesn't get any more out of hand. Another war is not what we need.
Yeah that last tweet is very concerning.
Yup, and my friend just tweeted this, and honestly I gotta agree with him.
