Fake anti net neutrality comments and Comcast Censorship

in #news7 years ago

The FCC recently asked the public what it thought about ending net neutrality (ending freedom of speech on the internet) and people flooded their website with comments, the majority of which were for net neutrality which protects the rights of internet users. Unfortunately however a lobbying group, probably influenced by Comcast, used bots to post fake comments under the names of thousands of people who had no idea that their identities were being used. These identical anti net neutrality comments were fortunately easy to identify as spam by the average person. Because of this, a non profit foundation created a website where people could make sure that their identities were not stolen. The FCC however which is heavily influenced by big ISP dollars is taking these comments into consideration anyway to “err on the side of inclusion”. Really this is because the FCC is led by a former telecom executive and is influenced by service providers and lobbyists.

Anyways, back to the website that lets users check whether or not their identity has been stolen by big telecom lobbyists. The website known as comcastroturf.com has been censored by Comcast which is trying to shut down the website all together using baseless copyright claims.

As a people, we need to work together to protect net neutrality despite what Comcast or any other telecom giant might try to do. When the will of the people is strong enough, we can make anything happen. If you support freedom on the internet, I encourage you to reach out to your government officials and to tell them what you think. Write a letter, leave a comment, send an email. Lets hold Comcast and the big money anti net neutrality lobbying firms accountable!

Amen! This is important information every person needs to understand! Thank you for sharing @aaronburt

scary shit

Yeah it really is

This is getting too close to becoming real. The internet speed should NOT be auctioned to the highest bidder.

Whoever is behind spamming the fake comments needs to prosecuted to the maximum sentencing! I'm going to check if me or my family has had our IDs stolen by those sorry MFs.
