A box of cereal with about a glass of milk for breakfast tiday and i paused to wonder(my cereal was soggy afterwards though😣), how much a glass of milk could be used as recycling material. So i did a bit of findings on the internet and realised that....a quick history; milk fabrics has existed way back in the 30's...quite a while tbh; in other to make waste of milk products more use...this idea struck!!
100 pounds of Skim milk would be processed to get about 30 pounds of milk fibre, hence they remain exoctic and hard to get. A quick step to milk fabric production.
Milk fibre belongs to a class of bio-based, man-made fibres known as regenerated protein fibres. It is made from the protein casein, which can be separated from sour milk. Casein is dissolved in a solution and then forced through a spinneret – a device that resembles a shower head – to produce long strands, which are then stretched, heated and chemically treated to increase their strength and stability.
Well, a better way to understand this is that milk is allowed to ferment before it is turned into a powder, which is then heated and mixed with other natural ingredients. The entire mixture is turned into yarn, which can be woven or knitted into a silk-like cloth.
Finally, Milk fibres are soft, comfortable and retain skin moisture. Milk fibre is also provides safe environments due to its biodegradable nature
