Sero Electric, the first Argentine automaker to produce series electric vehicles, announced a $ 5 million investment to move and expand its production plant. Since 2015, the firm founded by businessman Pablo Naya was operating in the same facilities of Da Dalt motorcycle factory in Villa Luzuriaga.

The location is no coincidence: the Municipality of Morón was the first to buy two units of Sero Electric, to incorporate them into its fleet of official vehicles (see note).

The official Télam agency published an article where the Sero Electric team updates the project's new features and its export plans.

Autoblog already handled Sero Electric for a week. The full review can be read here.

The electric vehicle that wants to go out to walk the streets

By Valentina Selzer

Sero Electric began to be manufactured in Villa Luzuriaga and soon will be produced from the Industrial Park of Morón. For now it can be used in countries and enclosed spaces but they want to be approved to move through the streets.

The worldwide trend of producing vehicles for a public that requires a low cost of maintenance and that accompany the care of the environment is already a reality in the country. It was thus that from Villa Luzuriaga, province of Buenos Aires, Argentine entrepreneurs decided to make this possible and Sero Electric was born.

This state-of-the-art electric vehicle was presented as an innovative and sustainable option when it comes to driving around the city. It has three models that vary between transfer of cargo or people, and demanded an investment of US $ 5,000,000.

The first of its kind, reaches a speed of 45 kilometers per hour, the materials used for its construction are 100% recyclable and does not generate pollution. According to its creators, with this transport system it is possible to reduce the cost of what a car burns to 10%.

Guadalupe Naya, from the marketing department of the firm, told Télam that the project started in 2010 inspired by the European vehicles Microcars and explained: "That's why we started to investigate and analyze the chances of carrying it out in the country and we saw That was possible. "

"We worked on the development of its aluminum structure with the tubular steel front and rear bridges, we look for the best electrical technology so that it has a record autonomy with the battery; Are more than 300 pieces that were planned to produce here in Argentina and achieved an integration of 85%, importing only the parts that do not exist at scale in our country, "he said.

In order to be able to circulate in the public thoroughfare, it is necessary to have the vehicle category L6 / L7 (light quadricycle), which is already regulated in cities that give impetus to environmental care, mainly in Europe and the United States.

From the company explained that in Argentina still can not accede to the corresponding authorization, although they began two years ago the process of regulation at national level to obtain said category "which would allow the circulation in the whole country and not only in farms Closed or private, which is our current market, "Naya said.

In this respect Guadalupe Naya opined: "We consider that government agencies should give priority to this type of undertaking since almost all parts are produced in our country; Not only are we talking about an innovative and sustainable product, but also that we would generate jobs by having the possibility of increasing production. "

In countries where electric vehicles circulate, incentives such as free parking, battery charging points and tax elimination to encourage the production and sale of this type of mobility are offered. "If we achieve the category we could enter new markets exporting as we would be the first producers of this type of vehicles in South America."

Finally, Naya detailed that at the beginning of 2018 they estimate that they will begin to manufacture the vehicle in the Morón Aeronautical Technological Industrial Park (PITAM). "Today we are working to produce the first 150 vehicles; We also invested a budget of US $ 2,000,000 in the production plant to finalize the infrastructure and start from there next year. "
