Zombieland: Double Tap on Netflix

in #netflix5 years ago

Personally, I really enjoyed the original Zombieland that was released in 2009. At that point I feel as though Zombie films and shows had already been done to death and it was refreshing to see that someone was making a zombie film that had elements of horror, but was mostly a comedy making fun of other aspects of zombie-oriented films.

If it had been a serious film, I likely would have skipped it altogether because it's hard to believe this, but even 11 years ago there were already far too many features in this genre.

The films starts out wonderfully with the team taking over the White House as their new home. The being to live a life of opulence in the most secure house in the world only to have some sort of trouble introduced by the younger girl wanting to find a boyfriend - which is stupid but I suppose they needed to create conflict somehow.

A bit later on, once the two girls have both taken off, we are introduced to a wonderful new character named Madison.

Madison is referred to as a "dumb blonde" and that isn't just my take on it, this is director Ruben Fleischer's term as well. She is bubbly, sexy as hell, extremely kind, and completely useless as far as being capable of looking after herself or contributing to the team in any way is concerned. Basically, she is a massive liability but since she sleeps with the recently single "Columbus," she gets to tag along.

Their ultimate objective is to catch up with the younger girl named "Little Rock" who has taken off with some hippie to a pacifist city somewhere out there. The story isn't really important and to be honest it is actually pretty dumb - but since this is Zombieland and the appeal of the film lies more in the action, wit, and cinematography / CGI, the fact that the story is pretty weak doesn't really matter.

There are plenty of gory kills done in slow motion throughout the 90 minutes of playtime.

This is one of those zombie films for people that dont like zombie films or, like me, used to like zombie films before the global industry made everything a zombie film.

I'm not sure exactly when this was introduced to the Netflix library, but at least where I live it was a recent addition. I found the film to be really entertaining and funny, the ending is pretty dumb but honestly, that was kind of expected. It's a fun ride, just don't expect much of a story because I don't really feel as though they tried to have one.

I have the exact same thoughts on the movie. Great post

yeah it was an ok ride. That girl in the pink though - she was a great addition to the team.

yes she was just the right level of annoying and she is definitely easy on the eyes.

I had it on in the background while i was doing something else. The main character Jessie somethign or other just kind of annoys me as a person. I'm not really sure why

I've heard quite a few people say that they find him annoying and that they only liked him in The Social Network.
