Underrated Show of the Week: Young and Hungry

in #netflix8 years ago (edited)

Netflix is full of stuff. Way too much stuff for us to ever watch. I get it. But if you're ever looking for a easy watch, something quick to watch in the morning before heading off to work or school, something that can lighten the mood and give you some good laughs: check out 'Young and Hungry.' And now I'm gonna tell you why.

If you're a bit younger like me, then you're probably familiar with the former Hannah Montana co-star Emily Osment. She's the lead role, and she's just as cute and lovable as ever. Her quirky personality and sweet sense of humor shine brightly in this pleasant little sitcom. And I will say, the sense of humor this show starts off with verses what it is currently does change... pretty dramatically. It's still cute and quirky as all get out, but the under handed jokes increase a well as improve dramatically. Not to mention the other pretty face Jonathan Sadowski. Oh he's a great actor too... but I mean, just look at that handsome face.

I will admit, this show does have a few stereotypical roles, but it uses them in a unique way. We have the black house-cleaner Kym Whitley with her fierce and sassy attitude alongside gay, Asian manager Rex Lee. Separate, this sounds kind of iffy, sure. But together- they make quite the dynamic duo. Their crudeness heightens throughout the series as well as their likability. They're just so.... funny.
And lastly I have to bring attention to Little So-So, aka Aimee Carrero who seems just as cool outside of the show as she does in it. Sassy and independent woman, the character Sofia might just be my favorite in this entire show. She's lovable, she's cute, she's funny, and she's straight up kind of a badass? She's the kind of confident all girls would like to be. She has her down moment sure, but always picks herself back up. she's the reliable one, the clear headed one, and easily one of the best elements of this show.

All in all, this show is severely underrated. It may not contain the most in-depth scenarios, but it's filled with classic comedy and a whole lot of drama (the good kind). All I'm saying is if you want an easy watch, start here. I assure you 'Young and Hungry' does not disappoint. In fact, it gets better the further in you get.

Sort:

I just finished watching Stranger Things, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Marvel's Iron Fist. I'm currently watching the Daredevil (I finished the Season 1 and haven't started the Season 2, yet.) and will see if I like "The Ranch". (I love Ashton, so much!) Someone suggested I watch "Narcos" and now this bad-ass? Will definitely watch it, soon.

Stranger Things is great! And I've watched about half of a Series of Unfortunate events so far! Also wonderful! I do hope you enjoy Young & hungry. It's easy and fun! Happy Netflixing! :)
