You heard that right folks. The FCC has just voted to take it down, and we're all pissed about it. Get in touch with your representatives to see if there's any thing that they can do to protect our freedom on the web.
In a 3-2 vote today, the Federal Communications Commission approved a measure to remove the tough net neutrality rules it put in place just two years ago. The new rules largely don’t prevent internet providers from doing anything. They can block, throttle, and prioritize content if they wish to. The only real rule is that they have to publicly state that they’re going to do it.
Even if the bill has to go through Congress, we can expect the swamp to take this one by the hair and bend it over a heaping stack of Benjamins out back. I've been wrong before, but access to the internet will soon no longer be as we have known it.
Here's a link to the bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4585/text
Basically, it would shackle the FCC, ruling that their proposed rule change cannot be used to enforce or repeal FCC policies. Call your representative, tell them to endorse HR4585!
On it ddrfr33k! Thanks for your input. We'll fight this!
