I would just say that Plato and Aristotle did indeed refine Socrates' teachings, but those teachings were later on assimilated in Western European and North American cultures, as at that time in Antiquity the Americas were not yet discovered and Western Europe had limited ties with Greece, other than through several Greek colonies in the Mediterranean.
