Not up to two yards

in #neo11 months ago

Hello friends,
Alot happen everyday that we learn from, I will be sharing something that seems insignificant but gave me lessons that one can apply to real life situations. They were sharing clothes in my school to staffs and I got mine. It was actually a gift from an association we all belong to. We were all given two yards of the particular material and I kept mine in my bag. Not quite long, one of our staff approached me that I should help him change the material he was holding with mine because the old woman he planned to give, which happened to be one of our staff said she doesn't want the one with sticker on it. He actually approached others too but they all rejected it. I was willing to assist him just because of the elderly woman.

Days later, I was arranging my room then I stumbled on the material and I decided to cut it so that I can sew it since others have started sewing and even wearing theirs too. I took the measuring tape to measure it and saw that the cloth he gave me wasn't up to two yards. I was angry and I felt cheated. A thought came to my mind that maybe the woman knew it wasn't up to two yards and that was why she rejected it. Immediately I took my phone and called the male staff who brought the cloth to me and told him what I noticed. He apologized and said that was what others got too.

What will I do with a material that is less than two yards was the question on my mind and I don't have money to buy another material to add to it. I later took my phone and searched Pinterest for short gowns and I was able to see a simple kimono gown that I can make with it. I made it and it came out simple and lovely.

From this experience I learnt that whatever little we have can still be useful. Many wait till they have "something big" before they start pursuing their goal. The "something big" might not come. make do with that little material in your hand and it will surprise you how God will bless it.

Also, like the common saying "cut your clothes according to the length of your material" I knew what I had and I had to think of style that I can make with it. I did not have money to buy extra and I was tempted to borrow but I refuse. Many are in debt because they want to impress, they want to belong and because of that are living a fake life. Know your capacity and work with it to prevent embarrassment, running Helter skelter and anxiety. Work within your budget.
Thanks for reading my post.

I'm sorry for what's happened to you, it's not nice to being treated like that for sure. On the other hand, that dress is nice, looks good on you.

I see you posted this on your blog and not in a community. Most likely it wasn't intentional. No worries, it happens. Next time you can use one of the communities, like Reflections, or Ladies of Hive

I have a set of newbie guides at the bottom of my posts, maybe check them out if you need any guidance.

I actually wanted to post it to ladies of hive. I thought I did and I have published it before I saw that there was an error. Thanks for the guide, the vote and I appreciate your comments.

Thanks for your constant support @ladiesofhive

Thank you for sharing!

I'm glad you were able to make the best use of the little material.
One main lesson I got from your post is that we should be careful when rendering help to people. Some people are out to deceive and don't mind whose horse is gored.
Thanks for sharing your story.

You made a very good point, one has to be very careful when rendering help to people. May God help us all. Thanks for Stopping by.
