Toddler Backpacks I Made as Gifts🎁

One of the advantages of sewing is that it could save you some money when sewing something for yourself or as a gift for someone else. I have 3 year old twin cousins, both boys, and last year for their birthday I decided to make them backpacks. I've never made backpacks before and wasn't sure of the size. I found a tutorial for toddler backpacks that was quick and easy enough to follow called, Toddler Backpack "Winging it" Tutorial.

I had a piece of denim fabric and some upholstery fabric and decided to go for a jeans look for the backpacks. So instead of having just one pocket, I cut and sewed jeans pockets for the front of the backpacks and used the upholstery fabric as contrasting fabric for the flap and the straps.

I added a jeans button to finish off the look.

It's amazing what you can do with some fabric and a sewing machine 😊.

Love love this idea!!! These are so cute and so original! I’m sure your cousins loved them! That’s what I love about diy’s and being able to make your own items...especially as gifts! You save so much money AND can feel proud knowing it was by the work of your own hands!!!

Job well done!!! I’m so glad you are sharing your sewing work with us!!! Thanks for being here!! 😃

Thanks @crosheille, really glad you like it.

When I started making the bags I wasn't sure what the end result would be and also ran into a couple of challenges along the way... But was so happy with the outcome... I think gifts are worth so much more when you've made it yourself :-)

You are welcome!! I’m glad you didn’t give up and kept going even after the challenges. Yes there is nothing like a handmade gift :)

They are stunning and so neat I would have thought they are store bought. I myself would like on :-DDDD I love the star button and the contrast between the dark denim and the lighter fabric. 💕

Thanks for the compliment 😊.

These are really cute. Did the twins enjoy using them @hoosain?

Well done, children love to be original and having something made for them personally is a lovely gift @hoosain

Thank you :-)

So super cute and you did a great job! They look so nice and I'm sure your kids like them. Plus the denim is a little more sturdy so they probably can take a little more abuse than a cotton fabric backpack would. Thanks for sharing the link for the tutorial as well! :) Really nice!

Wow - what wonderful backpacks! I am sure that your cousins love them! It is always great to give handmade gifts because you were thinking specifically about them and their need while making it.

Well they turned out just amazing , @hoosain! The pockets are so cute, and the cinch-sack styling is perfect for easy in-and-out. They look like they were a lot of work, but appear as though they will be quite durabel and dependable. Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you, my dear!

Thank you :-)

These are lovely, a great idea and I like your individual touches!

Wow! Really great way of reusing denim, the kids who will get them will be really happy.
