The NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant has resigned with the Warriors for 2 years worth approximately $53 million dollars. After the $201 million contract with Stephen Curry no doubt the Warriors are trying there best to keep this team together. But after 2 years will Golden State give Durant the same contract as Stephen Curry? What about the other key players such as Thompson who will make $35 million in 2 years and Draymond Green who will make $51 million in 3 years. Are these 2 players are going to want a high contract as well?
Pretty selfless move by Kevin Durant. One point thats important to keep in mind is that he has a player option for year 2, meaning he can (and probably WILL) become a free agent again next year.
Also, next year he would qualify for a "supermax" contract like Curry got this year, so he's probably going to get a 5 year $200M deal next offseason.
It's going to be tough to keep all of the players at that point. My bet is that Klay ends up leaving, but you never know!
So if KD decides not to resign with the Warriors after 2 years and a team offered him a handsome contract what team could use his services?
Only two years? Seems odd. I guess he wanted to keep his options open
Yeah that's true, I'm pretty sure after 2 years some team is going to offer him a ridiculous amount of money.
