The center had an influential role off the bench for the Bucks who were bounced in the first round of the playoffs. However with a young team lead by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee will be on the improve, and Monroe will be critical off the bench.

Too bad monroe is not getting many playing time as he does not fit in jason kidd strategy well. But in my opinion, he should opt out as i think some one will play him better money. After all, he has proven himself in pistons and i wish all the best for him.

I read it was an accepted role and he embraced it. He did play fewer minutes and had no starts for the first time in his career but his PER was actually really good and the team loved his change of pace and enforcer presence. My guess he resigns with the Bucks at more money as they want to keep that core group that made it to the playoffs.

The bucks will have the cash as they got Giannis at a steal. 4 years $100 million. Since he made the ALL NBA team this year he would have been eligible for a $40 million a year contract. It's a good team. Will be interesting to see how they do next year.

Greak freak is definitely one of the star and what amazing about him is that he could play 1 - 5 and guard everyone in the court. The bucks really need parker and middleton healthy. They also picked very well with maker and brogdan. Very young and exciting team.

I don't think anyone will pay him more than that. A big man that can't really defend and doesn't have an outside shot doesn't have much impact in todays NBA. In a limited role off the bench he can be affective, but not for more than 18 mil

Yes probably not the modern pf a team would want (i.e. Stretch 4, able to cover the parameter etc.), but he should be capable in eastern conference where team is tougher and slower. He might be able to find 18m as nowadays salary is really high in the nba (crabbe , mozgov etc..)

Mozy is only on twelve million a year and is a better defender than Monroe. Monroe is much better offensively however. Yet even still, Mozgov is on one of the worst contracts in the league and teams know that.

Crabbe is overpaid, but he had to be to keep the Blazers together as he signed a qualifying offer with the Nets IIRC. The Nets were happy to overpay him because they're rebuilding. Plus, he's a shooter and he can defend, which is more valuable now than ever in the NBA.

No team would be stupid enough to pull the trigger on Monroe IMO, but I could be wrong. Guess we'll find out next season when he's a free agent.

Thanks it is really nice to find someone who can get in depth and talk about basketball here :) nets situation is a bit complex as basically they have no talent and they have no draft pick to work with. So they really need to sign a few players who can play and ofcourse we know they try to sign tyler johnson and allen crabbe but both fail. Getting a d' angelo is a good start for them to accumulate young core and build the future.

I'm going to be posting a lot of NBA news and writing my own articles/shitposts. Hopefully as this site becomes bigger more NBA fans will join.

As for the Nets situation, they're in a good position with Sean Marks at the helm. He seems to be a great GM. As a Celtics fan in myself, it's not so good.

Disclaimer: I am just a bot trying to be helpful.

There seems to be a rather large accumulation in the NBA of great players who don't fit "modern" schemes coaches are now adopting thanks to GSW success. Jahlil Okafor and Greg Monroe are perfect examples. At some point, a very smart Owner+GM+Coach combo are going to take advantage of this plethora of quality players stuck in systems which underweight their skills.

Greg Monroe would be crazy to give up the money, he SHOULD make the Bucks pay-up for not having their head on straight. Monroe should either be moved up to starter, or they should have a second system rigged around him when the rotation players are on the court. Same goes for Okafor, set up the Kobe-Shaq triangle for Okafor as backup center, keep the run-and-gun stuff for Embiid and his band of starters and gunners (Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz, etc...).

There's also going to be LOTS of room for a team to take advantage of all the open mid-range shots now available in the NBA. We should start to see wing-player 2P% go up, thanks to everyone and their cousin looking for 3s all the time, and defenders stretching out to half court. Kobe and MJ would have a virtual FIELD DAY shooting 14 foot jumpers on today's "modern" NBA. The cycle has gone too far.
