If you get to spend a bit of time in the high altitude Himalayas you soon start to appreciate the old Nepalese pilots adage that “we don't fly when there are clouds, because the clouds have rocks in them”. Peeking though the clouds here is the incredible spire of Ama Dablam at 6,812 metres (22,349 ft). Ama Dablam translates to "Mother's necklace" as the long ridges on each side are said to resemble the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, and the hanging glacier thought of as the dablam, the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women. I took this picture going up at the Barre des Ecrins by a cold but beautiful day in summer. We went by the Col des Ecrins and slept under the tent at the Glacier Blanc, (3000 meters) and after an early start and hours of walking, we arrived at the Dome de neige. (4015 meters). We then followed the ridge until the top of the Barre des Ecrins (4102m). The Ecrin mountains are a beautiful place in the French Alps, one of my favorite. You feel far from civilization. You can feel the serenity, peace and both the threat of tons of ice waiting to melt on a warm summer day.
Gorgeous... the blues and whites and the sun all made me stop and really look.

This is a startrail photograph I took out at Trillium Lake in Oregon. the distinct mountain will be instantly recognizable to Oregonians and many visitors - Mt. Hood is an iconic feature of the northern part of the state, and there are many places to get a good view of it, but Trillium Lake is one of the best for reflections like this... I don't remember how long I had the camera running, taking continuous 30-second exposures, but it must have been a couple of hours. The lights on the slopes are from machines working on the ski hill. A peaceful and memorable night. :)

This is my favourite place on Earth ! It's really far from everywhere and outside the world. It's really peacful here and it feels like another planet. When i went up here for the first time it was extremly cold and windy and i just didn't notice it. i was so excited to see this beautiful place and all this mountains. It feels like you are on top of the world. What i liked the most is drive to this place. the road is really beautiful and fun. It reminded me to do a video about this road !

So this is the photograph of place called Shia Goru in Himachal pradesh India, this divides two great valleys (Kullu and Spiti). The name Shia Goru means a cold place and indeed this place is freezing as there are glaciers in both the gates of valley these humongous mountains are taller than 15000 ft . This photograph is clicked by me from the Hamta pass which is on altitude of 14000 ft , this photograph is a remembrance of that beautiful and exhausting trek. Hope you love this photograph

The Grand Teton mountain range in Northwest Wyoming is one of my favorite places! I feel alive and inspired when I am there. I love to see and photograph its jagged peaks, gorgeous lakes, waterfalls and the famous and scenic Snake River. This photograph was taken on my most recent trip in October 2017 with my brother @jarvie when the seasons were crossing each other. This is a small section of the 40 mile long mountain range that dominates the Grand Teton National Park.

This is Little Chief Mountain in Glacier National Park, Montana. I took this photo in June of 2017. I spent last summer working in the park and went hiking constantly. This view is from the beginning of the St. Mary/Virginia Falls trail. The forest pictured in the foreground burned in the 2015 Reynolds Creek Fire. St. Mary Lake can also be seen here.
I'd like to thank @shadalene for starting this contest! I think it's a great idea and has the potential to build an ever bigger community of nature-junkie steemians.

Here is a picture from a day I'll never forget. My friends and I won a pass to drive the park road in Denali National Park, Alaska. For four days pass holders can drive a personal vehicle the entire length of the road, a right reserved for buses only during the rest of the year. We were about half way into the park when we came over a large hill. Sitting in the distance was the very reason this park was named. The tallest peak in North America, Denali, sat waiting for us to arrive. There are only a few days when you can actually see the mountain. It's so big it creates it's own weather system and is often covered in clouds. One of my favorite moments I've ever experienced.

With Global warming it is harder than before, aech winter to find some big ice fall which last a long time. It is a beautiful creation of nature when the weather is becoming freezing. In this secret valley, close to Grenoble in France, a beautiful water fall has been frozen. Some people are climbing ice fall in an artistic and dangerous way. It’s an hobby, a sport but also a way to remember that every year, ice is melting because of global warming.

Many photos will definitely fall into several categories, but I think this would fit very well in the Water-themed contest!
I took this photo at Chephren lake in Banff National Park. If you drive all the way down the icefield parkway and past the fowl lakes you'll find the trail head without too much trouble. The hike itself isn't too hard, and it's pretty the whole way up. Most of the walk is in the forest, but you do get a chance to cross a gorgeous mountain meadow under the shadow of the mountains. Once at the top, you're greeted by this view...at least in the summer. Getting there in the winter is a whole other story.
It's a long enough hike you'll need a few supplies - water, food and sturdy boots. But other than that - enjoy the views.

It was a perfect day for hiking. We (@yidneth and I) went to the Pyrenees. I was expecting a lot of people there but maybe because it was already late, the place was empty. All for us! :P. But I wanted to capture the latest rays of light in this famous peak and the reflection. That was the only cloud I remember to see in the entire day and it came in time for the photo :) It is not the highest mountain in the Pyrenees, but it is certainly a very loved one. It has a grand unmistakable shape and it is surrounded by tarns like this one. After the sun went out, we started to go down in a new Moon cloudless night full of millions of stars. One of my best days in 2017. (2017-10-14)

I'm gonna have to go with the mountain that I grew up under, and still can see everyday. This is Mt. Ben Lomond. It smiles down upon Ogden, Utah. It says home to me and so many others.
As I was leaving work a few week ago, the clouds were on fire so I ran out into the street to get some photos of Benny, as he's known to the locals.
Fun fact: The building you see was named Ben Lomond Hotel and Suites, after the mountain.

Here is a my entry. This photograph was taken from my 16 days motorcycle road trip to Himalayas in India along with 2 of my biker buddies. The location is near Rohtang Pass which is almost 13000+ feet above sea level. This is considered one of the toughest trip for any biker where you have to cross many high altitude mountain passes with varying terrain and rough weather. Not to mention the low oxygen and high altitude. Nevertheless this got to the best travel experience I ever had , even though I had a incident on day 3. I really love the mountains. Almost every travelling I do should include mountains, if possible.
When I was still living in Europe, the French Alps were my favorite spot to go to.
I included a photo with nice memories. It was at the end of my vacation, in a small mountain village, called Val Cenis Le Haut.
We rented a hotel room with an incredible view, which is the photo I'm submitting today as my entry for the mountain Monday contest.
The village is located in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France.
For sure one of my favorite places.

I love the mountains! So much so that I moved to the mountains with my family about 16 years ago. This photo is of Paradise Lake, one of my favorite lakes to backpack to and camp at in the local mountains. It's about a 7 mile hike from the parking area. Some people are able to visit as a day hike but I always backpack there and spend a couple days and nights with friends, family, campfires and fishing poles.

This is my submission for mountain monday it was my first back packing hike ever and its on an intermediate level amazing for my first hike it was a 3 day hike took 21 km mainly up hill to get to the final camping spot we were a few thousand feet up in the mountains and not to mention the enitre 3 days we had 1 day without rain. i also only had about 6 hours sleep the whole time because the person who i was sharing a tent with had a crappy tent and filled with rain so i spent most of my nights sleeping on the picnic bench under the little huts. and since i was new at this i didnt pack enough food so on the last day we had nothing and just power hiked all the way down so we could get food and find a campground to sleep at all and all it was an amazing time and seen some amazing stuff
Also i see alot of stolen images if you rightclick the image click search google for images and you can find out if its stolen or an original photo
I would like to piggyback on this comment and say that I hope we can come up with a way to ensure original content. It would be really unfortunate if people end up benifitting from the work of others.

The judges for each contest will reverse search the images and take into consideration the results of their research when deciding the winners. In the case of this contest, I am well familiar with most of the photographers who have submitted photos, and their accounts also indicate their originality. I've also done research on the others, and so far I haven't found proof of dishonesty. However, we need the community to step in at any time if such proof is found, and we need to hold each other accountable in a kind manner. Photos that are proven to not belong to the contestant will be disqualified. My guess is that we can never be 100% certain, but we'll definitely do our best. Thanks again for bringing up a valid concern. Probably a week or so into the contest I will create a post just for feed-back, and we can discuss these matters more in depth.

I took this photo of Lake Churup, with Mount Churup in the background in the Peruvian Andes near Huaraz. The mountain peak in the distance is 5495 metres (18,028 ft), and the lake where I'm taking the photo from is just over a 1000 metres below the summit. This was as far as I got though, I didn't have the equipment or the knowhow to safely climb any higher. And to be honest, I was already starting to feel the effects of altitude sickness. I was happy enough to get this photo, and lucky with the weather as it completely clouded over about fifteen minutes later.

Autumn in Altay mountains in Russia.
The name "Altay" (or "Altai") comes from Mongolian "Altan", which means "golden". And this is the place of myth and legends and in some areas the alive now.
This is very remote place, located far away from villages and town. For this shot I had to wait until sun came out from behind the clouds and illuminated the yellow larches.
