"I started off as an urbex photographer from MN taking pictures of abandoned places, underground spaces, and rooftops around the midwest. In 2013 I was having a bit of a quarter life crisis and made the radical decision to sell everything, buy a truck camper, and head west. I had no idea what was going to happen, that I would still be on the road after 5 years, or that I would fall in love with the beauty of nature and transition into to a landscape photographer, but that is what happened." - BrianThe judge in today's contest is Brian Guiney(@fivealive55).
The SBD acquired on the winners announcement (to be posted tomorrow) at payout will be divided as follows:
First place: 20%
Second place: 12%
Third place: 7%
Seven honorable mentions: 3% each
Judge: 20%
Hostess: 20%

Have ever felt very small and insignificant? Yes I did!!!
While trekking in the Himalaya I came to realize how fragile we are. In the wild mankind is almost hopeless and we can not do anything on our own to survive nature.
This picture illustrate very well the thought of being small and insignificant...
Location: the Himalaya, Nepal.
Now that's a mountain! Great shot.
Thanks a lot 😀, I must admit the Annapurna are just huge!

This is an early.morning view of the mountains in Colorado, taken while sitting on the deck at a cousins house in Estes Park waiting for the sunrise. Drinking coffee and shivering, but it was far too beautiful to miss all the splendor that was happening!
Ahh, your photo is so inspiring and timely for me! I am going to be in Estes Park next week (first time seeing the Rockies) and I am so excited! This is gorgeous.
I am so excited for you!! I hope the weather is perfect and you can spend your entire visit being outdoors!
Thank you!! :) Can hardly wait.
I love the fog and the mood of this shot, well done!
Thank you!!!
What a great view to have from the deck! I can't imagine how it is to open the window and receive this amount of energy early in the morning.
And she slept through it! All this splendor every morning, I'd never be able to leave my house!!
Dreamy effect works wonderfully, Melinda! Ever since I first visited Estes Park when I was about 8 yrs old, I said I want to live there someday (Loveland, CO). Now I dream of taking a vacation there with my children and mom. The mountains in your photo very much remind me of The Great Smoky Mountains ⛰
Is that a real thing? Dreamy effect? If so, I need you to teach me! I hope you get to go on your vacation!
Yes, its a real thing -- Mother Nature's special!
Seems harder and harder to organize a vacation as our children become young adults and our parent/s turn into older seniors, sadly. My son doesn't even want to go on vacation over Spring Break this year, his last one during high school.😣😭

Thanks so much!!
This is the best day, I'm so inspired by mountains.
My entry is the great Fitz Roy in Argentina. In summer 2016 I did a 10.000 km hitchhiking trip around Patagônia and one of the places I've enjoyed the most was El Chaltén. I've spent 7 days on the mountains walking from trail to trail and camping in different locations to visit Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy.
Fitz Roy was once called Chaltén, in tehuelche means "smoking mountain", as the original people from that region believed the mountain or peak was a volcano due to it's top being always covered by clouds.
It's pretty rare to see Fitz Roy without clouds but for those who are persistent and patience everything is possible.
First day at the Poincenot campsite it was cloudy, so my friend and I decided to stay there one more day to try again. Second day it was raining, many people left the campsite that day to go back to the city, but we were persistent. We've spent most of the day doing nothing but drinking wine and waiting. By the end of day the rain had stopped and the sky started to clear. I had left the woods to collect water on the river and "WOW", Fitz Roy was uncovered.
Third day we woke up at 4 in the morning to do the 1 hr uphill trail to see the old Fitz up close, amazing day!

Wow, that was unexpected! I'm really glad to be amongst all the amazing photos.
Thank you for hosting this contest it's a great oportunity to share photos and stories.
Awesome story and amazing mountain peaks! I would love to visit Argentina someday.
Thank you @fivealive5! Argentina is such an unique place, I hope you go there one day, it's really worth it.
Imagine this view after an hour hike, picking blackberries along the way. Nothing could prepare us for the swarms of butterflies playing in the wildflowers or this view from on top of the world. You just have to stand there and try to absorb and take in as much as you can in that moment and know that you are being given a gift. Mountains of North Carolina...spring.
The scene looks majestic!
most magical day ever! :)
Find me a horseback riding trail please and I'm there! Fantastic view and photography @youhavewings
this is a square of Samsun in Turkey. It is a very rainy city so the clouds look great. like a cotton. It's like greeting the mountains ...
I love the clouds and the lighting. If I don't pick this image it is because of the uneven black border and the mountains not really being a main focus of the photo.
That's good news. I destroyed the black frame. But as you said, the clouds are ahead of the mountains. I could work a little more. It could be a competition on the cloud. thank you.
This is the Italian side of Matterhorn. I captured this photo while trekking to Breithorn peak.
Those lingering clouds are awesome and the mountains are looking mighty!
This photo was taken in port of little town Brunnen in Switzerland. It was very cold and rainy.
I love the lighting, the composition is good and those mountains look legit!
Thank you!

Reflection from Slovenia. Been photographing this place so many times, one of my favourite place to take my camera and do some photos.
I love reflection shots and the golden hour light is on point giving the shot great contrast. Also the composition looks spot on for this scene. Very well done.

The bedrock geology of the park consists almost entirely of granite rocks and the mountains are truly remarkable to witness in person!
"Yosemite National Park"
Is submitting a Yosemite shot cheating? lol just kidding. Beautiful shot, that cloudscape is epic.
I see we have at least one other smartass here!😀
The white-knuckle drive up the mountains to get to Yosemite alone to take these photos should earn a prize. Have you ever been there? @fivealive55 You would absolutely love the scenery!!!📸
Technically yes because I spent a few days hiking across the northern part of the park on the JMT but I never made it down to the valley. I have been meaning to for a long time now and hopefully will go really soon. I'm currently only a 4-5 hour drive away from there.

Thank you so much! Honored to be selected alongside these talented photographers who are way out of my league @shadalene
These beautiful mountains were visible from the Bled Castle in Lake Bled, Slovenia, I loved the rolling mist coming in and the snow capped mountain tops!
That looks like a cool mountain range and I like the mist as well!
This is taken in New zealand, New Zealand is extreme about its landscape, one moment it is hilly the other moment flat or just hilly. To be hnoust i do not know anymore if it was North or South Island, I think south around queenstown. But I al not to sure :-) hope you like it anyway, click the pic to see it big.
I've never been to NZ but I would guess this was the south Island for sure. It looks like a shot from a massive mountain range.
it could be around the glaciers there, I have to dive back into my facebook history to find daily reports :-)
I'm a sucker for low clouds and fog so you got some points for that! The texture on the hills in the foreground looks really cool as well, and I like the cool to warm color transition from top to bottom.
I really like this shot, @jlgc! So beautiful with all the colors and textures, it really draws the viewer! Would love to visit someday.
This mountain consists of chalk and clay rocks. It was formed in the Jurassic period, when the climate changed, and many species of fish and reptiles disappeared from the face of our planet. This is a beautiful and interesting place. In the shreds of chalk you can find the remains of shells, belemnites, and if you are lucky, then other more interesting findings.
I love the contrast of the green and reddish brown. That said it looks more like a canyon wall then a mountain from this perspective. I'm not sure how much of a stickler I'm suppose to be with that, where is this place?
This place is in Ukraine, here earlier the chalk was extracted on an industrial scale. Now this place is a natural park.
Captured at Shimla, India. What a day it was, pleasent is the right word I would say, hope the photograph communicate the feels, winter just ending and signs of spring.. Happiness all the way.
Very nice scene with amazing light! I don't see a lot of landscapes from India, very cool!
Thanks a lot, I hope you you would love my work in future too, I try to bring lot of landscapes from India :)

5.047m elevation above the sea level makes Mount Kazbek the third highest mountain in Georgia and the sixth highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains. It is also the second highest volcanic summit in the Caucasus, after Mount Elbrus and fifth highest ultra-prominent peak (1.500m above its surroundings) in the Europe. The summit lies directly to the west of the town of Stepantsminda and is the most prominent geographic feature of the area. The name in Georgian, Mkinvartsveri, translates to "Glacier Peak" or "Freezing Cold Peak". In the Vainakh language of local Nakh people, name Bashlam translates as "Molten Mount".
Awesome mountain and great write up. I love the hung up clouds.
This image was taken from the Mt. Wellington observation deck in Tasmania, Australia. The mountain is 1271 metres high and towers over the city of Hobart. Mt Wellignton provides an impressive backdrop to Hobart and the Derwent river. Before the Pinnacle road was built in 1930, access to the summit was achieved by walking. Today it takes approximately twenty minutes by car to reach the top where the spectacular views are well worth seeing. Keen cyclists use the Mt. Wellington Descent Cycling Tours and for those who prefer to walk, there is an easy track up the slopes of the mountain. Many amazing rock formations are admired along the way, such as the “Organ Pipes.”Mount Wellington. #naturephotocontest
What a view! and a great write up as well!
Thanks very much @fivealive55
Sunrise view from Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo. Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Malaysia and one of the main tourism product in Sabah.
Picture taken with smartphone.
Perfectly timed shot with the sun! Very nice!

Thank you!
The mountains we have here in Australia just don't seem to compare to the beauty that they have in other parts of the world... but this is it, this is what we have! : )
Sounds like NZ got all the good mountains down there. The mountain might be small but at least you got a really good reflection of it!
I would love to get over to NZ!! It is on the to do list. Yes they've got some great and beautiful peaks over there.... Thank you! : )
How did I miss my favorite mountains Monday !
Me too, and the Simple Sunday!
