Everest.jpg

A misty sunrise over Mt Everest, also known as Chomolungma or Sagarmatha, towering above at a massive 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). The summit of Mt Everest has less then 33% of the oxygen available at sea level. I hiked up Kala Pattar 5,644.5 m (18,519 ft) in the dark with a head torch three mornings in a row in an attempt to get this shot. At 5500m you have exactly 50% of the Oxygen available at sea level. The highest mountain on earth, Mt Everest is in the Mahalangur Range of the Himalayas and sits on the international border between China (Tibet Autonomous Region) and Nepal. Photo taken on Fuji Velvia slide film.

Breathtaking!
Figuratively for the viewer, literally for the photographer!

I already made a post featuring this picture but it was before I found out about this contest. We went hiking in the Cordillera Blanca in the Peruvian Andes near Huaraz and I was able to see this view with the silhouettes of the three hikers set against the snow capped peaks at the end of our first day of hiking.

Love the silhouettes !

The view from the top of the mountain while snowmobiling in Winter Park, Colorado. One of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had. I loved zipping through the trees covered with freshly fallen snow.

Nice. Do you get to Colorado often?

No, I haven't been for a long time. I want to go back and in the winter again.

That's some beautiful light.

Thank you very much!

Patagonian Mountains

The best thing about hiking on top of the Andes is that no matter where you look, you'll end up having great views. And no matter how scary a mountain is, I always get curious to know how it feels on top.
Hope you've enjoyed this pic, you can check it HERE

The southern side of Teide volcano in Tenerife seen on a winter day from 7 Canadas trekking route. The mountain is 3,718m and and it is the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic. The landscape surrounding the mountain is so surreal and the 7 Canadas walk is an easy and peaceful way to enjoy the view of the volcano. Thankfully the entire area is a national park so it will be protected forever!

An amazing place for sailing!

The view across Elterwater at the amazing mountains in the Lake District! It was such a beautiful clear day with some snow still on the mountains!

Nice. Always hear about he Lake District, but never seen a lot of photos from there.

Thanks! I have done a lot of posts about it, its our favourite place, if you ever get chance you should go!

There are a lot of small lakes in the mountains of Italy and I had a chance to walk around some of them. If you are in Europe, visit Val di Sole in Trentino ;)

Done :)

This is part of the range Dikti as you can see it on your way to Lassithi Plateau (Crete, Greece).
It's the kind of wild beauty that moves me the most.

This photo I took in Western Tatras in Poland. I'm going there almost every year, so I think that I know those mountains pretty well. Anyway still like them, but not during summer holidays. This photo was taken in November.

Hi,
This is my entry for this contest,

Mountain in cloud - The typical symbol in remote Northern Vietnam
This photo was taken in Lai Chau province, one of the remote mountain area in Northern Vietnam. The average altitude of these area is about 2000 meters above the sea level. In here, we can see the beautiful picture of color: from blue of the mountain, yellow of the rice field, green of the forest or the sky, white of the cloud, brown of river and ground, etc. Travelling to here, you can breath the pure fresh air, experience best roads in Vietnam. Some time, when you feel tired of your life, you can come here to refresh your mind, wake up in the remote place and feel that you are still young.
Best,
