The links between healthy business, economics, biodiversity, ecosystem services and natural capital are multiple. On the one hand, it is known that the use of natural resources in the business sector contributes to degradation of the ecosystem and loss of biodiversity, while, on the other hand, the business sector also depends on functional ecosystems and available ecosystem services, even to the extent that biodiversity and ecosystem services have a basis for new innovative business opportunities.
Today, few business sectors contribute to ecosystem degradation and loss of biodiversity, but it is less known that these sectors can also play a proactive role in addressing today's environmental problems.
The karst area is today a place of development of many business opportunities, such as fishing, tourism, hunting, beekeeping, production and processing of wood and others, many of which have a negative impact on biodiversity and the possibility of normal functioning of ecosystem services in these areas.
The range of business entities depends directly on the natural resources of karst, wood, fish, bees and honey. A good example of this is companies related to recreation and tourism, which directly rely on an adequate approach to nature.
A large number of industrial sectors, such as the production of timber and agriculture, are directly dependent on the ability of the ecosystem to maintain the water supply of the area and to prevent the occurrence of floods, erosion at the site of their zone of interest, i.e. exploitation zone.
