Absolutely gorgeous! I wish we didn't have so much light pollution here so we'd see more aurora borealis as well..
It is a magic moment when you see these. Have you ever heard a crackling sound when the colours are at their brightest?

I haven't, and I had to Google the phenomena! I wasn't aware of it....amazing!

Did you find out what causes it (the crackle)?

I’ve been looking AND listening for northern lights since you mentioned this. Unfortunately there haven’t been ideal conditions yet!

It seems like it still is uncertainty about the phenomenon, but it’s thought to be an energy release lower down in the atmosphere than where the lights are formed, due to electromagnetic ‘static’

Interesting! It’s easy to see why folklores were created ...!
