Down at the Chalice Well

About a month a go now I visited the Chalice Well in Glastonbury (UK). This was on the way to the summer Solstice at Stonehenge; actually so the 21st of June (an amazing event but another post). The Chalice Well is a beautiful garden with the legendary well situated in it. Now the well is one of the most holy in the UK. It is said to be where the cup of Christ was washed or buried, so an important spot. What ever you think; this water is rather amazing for your insides, which I why I wanted to pay a visit. The water has high iron content and turns the channel that amazing orange colour. In a rare occurrence for the UK it was also a baking hot day and perfect for this trip. If you are in that neck of the woods, I would most definitely recommend it as its only a few pounds, and I'm normally a tight bugger!

The Butterfly Appears

The focus of my story for this day is and will be the Butterfly. I was sitting dipping my feet in one of the healing pools chatting to some fellow water drinkers, for a good hour. We discussed all the current affairs like our wonderful Tory regime, the City Of London being its own country and all that jazz. It was very peaceful and tranquil with the nature signing around us. My new found friends parted ways an I sat in the pool for a moment longer.

After a while I felt something hit my ear quite hard, my natural instinct flicked at it and I saw a beautiful butterfly flutter in to the cold water where my feet were resting. Suddenly with a panicked guilt I fished it out trying not to touch it too much. This butterfly seemed OK, it was fluttering its wings but crawled onto the end of my finger, ready to prep its take off. Or so I thought!

It did not leave the end of my finger, so I let it stay. I left the pool and walked to the meditation trees and it stayed. I took a few photo's and it stayed. I even ate my picnic and it still stayed. Now you probably saying you idiot the butterfly is dead but not it was alive as it walk waling around my hand. Eventual after about two hours I have to leave to drive to Stonehenge; so we had to part but it would not go. After finding some nice flowers I encourage it to crawl of into the colorful bud before it. That was the last I saw of Jasper (seems and appropriate name for some reason).

The reason I post this is the butterfly was like no other I've ever seen ever! Its color was different to most and when it did open it wings the were like a velvet red with edges of blue it was incredibly. It might be a common one but people I have shown the photos have all commented on it beauty, so I thought I would share it with the Steemers.

Please do comment if you know what type this is, I would be most grateful :)

All pictures are my own. Here is the well spout but I don't want to spoil it for you.

Thank You !

I want to reply to your intro post first... I can relate to many things you said. The right kind of communities have the potential to heal the world. I'm here on steemit to try and nurture that kind of community here.

That Ghandi quote feels so cliche but if you can get past the way it's overused, it really says it all. We really have no way of changing others directly and respecting others free will. We can only change ourselves and watch as the world around us reflects that change.

Nice butterfly, seems you made a good friend

Great to connect with you. Indeed I am finding a lot of things that have been made a joke off our made cliche actually hold a lot of truth , take tree hugging for example. Recently I have been doing more of this and the connection with nature is really felt.

Its it great to see so many alike people on this platform and to finally see the change becoming a reality.

Follow and hope to share more soon :)

WOW! that butterfly is sooo cute!!! ^_^ ... its pretty amazing that it stayed with you for so long....

That maybe a spirit animal for you bringing a message of transformation is upon you! I like the chalice well never heard if it before and it has the symbol of Vesica Piscis the union of heaven and earth in the body of Christand the root ofthe flower of life. Its interesting how the cover was made i wonder whats underthe well

Well yes. I am moveing next week and starting a new job/life. So thats probalbly quite fitting.

Yes I had not hear of the Chalice well either until we decided to go, very glad we did so relaxing. They do retreats there and meditations daily. Some say its where the cup of christ from the last supper is buried!

Great post my friend and a beautiful butterfly :) .. If you have yet to go I think you'd appreciate St Nectans Glen Nr Tintagel.
