Creek Level Highest I've Ever Seen It

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

Good morning, Steemians!

It's been raining a lot lately here in southwest Florida. It seems like it's almost been 24 hours straight. We're also supposed to get rain today and tomorrow, both days have a 100% chance.

I went out to the creek in front of the house and took some pictures. In the year we've been here, our neighbors who've lived here 30 years told us they never saw the creek so low (completely dry) during the drought we had earlier in the year, and now I can guarantee that this is the highest I've seen the water level in at least the year we've been here.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the hurricane hitting Texas. I doubt it, because I looked at a huge radar map of the whole gulf, and there's a patch of rain where I am, and then nothing until the hurricane off the coast of Texas. Maybe they're related somehow, but I don't see how.

This is great for our shallow wells, because last year, some people had them go dry. It's way too early to tell if that'll happen in the coming dry season, but these big rains give me a little peace of mind.

Be safe out there in Texas, I'll keep you all in my thoughts!

Thanks for stopping by, Steemians!

I guess you can be thankful you're not on the Texas coast right now!

True!

I'm glad you got alot of rain as u can use it. Hope you don't get too much tho! Stay cool #tiltcoveforlife

I have some relatives that live in Homestead, Florida. I've been to Daytona during bike week and loved it there!

I've heard homestead is perfect for growing fruit, even better than here :) if it wasn't so expensive, I would buy land there lol

They actually lost their home to Hurricane Andrew (I think) and moved to Homestead. I cant remember where they lived before or if that was even the right hurricane but I do know they were inside the house when the roof detached. They had nightmares for several years over that experience.

Oh my gosh man I'm sorry to hear that. That's some scary shit. Glad to know they made it out of there.

Would love to see some 'before' pics when the creek was looking lower. Stay dry!

I'll try to dig up a link from a previous post. Hold tight. lol

Too hard to go back more than a few months.

This is a proof that even rain can't stop us from making quality photographs!

You have a beautiful place! So clean! Nice photos by the way!

Rains brings good there!
