I have always loved water lilies, there is something captivating in them. I don't know if it has to do with its rare beauty, I mean, they are floating in the water; or maybe because of the delicacy of their nature. The name water lily is given, in general, to aquatic plants with flowers that grow in water, being usually rooted in the bottom. These plants have been venerated by many cultures over time, but the one that catches my attention most is what the Egyptians thought of them. They considered that water lilies bloomed in the night and closed in the morning, symbolizing the separation of deities and was a motive associated with their beliefs about death and the afterlife.
I know this may seem a bit crazy to read, but we have to take into account that years ago the beliefs were very strong, and the water lily does not escape what many want to avoid, and that is death. As they've always caught my eye, I've gone deeper into de meanings of this plant and came down to the conclusion that they have a spiritual meaning, they don't stray far from the cultural, since they mean practically the same, in this case, they refer to human suffering, through enlightenment.
I actually haven't found any flowered water lily in Buenos Aires yet.
But this time, the water lilies remind us that although we are in a moment, from which we can not leave, someday we will come out of it, and not only that, but also, we will flourish as the beautiful flower does, and thus be able to illuminate to the people, with all the good things, that we carry inside.
Now we see that not all the things that this plant reflects are bad, because for everything, we must see the positive side, and even if it is a flower, born from the darkness, at the moment it blooms, it does so to show its beauty, and to leave all people speechless, and it is time, that we practice that beautiful teaching that leaves us.
It's time for us (or maybe just me) to leave that darkness that characterizes many of us, in order to surprise everyone, letting them know, that not everything in us was (or is) bad, but that we are good inside, after the storm passes.
And that really, it leaves us a great teaching, I hope many people take it into account, since you do not have to see only the part of death, as is the cultural meaning, but also, see that after spending a life full of darkness, we can flourish.
