Cool Finds, Part 1 - Natures Stone Purse

in #nature7 years ago

I recently walked down to a creek bed I visit occasionally. I wear a backpack and collect flat rocks for a wall in my house I'd like to finish with them. It's been a labor of love for a couple years now. As I only stumble across the "perfect" rock every few visits.

I hadn't been down there since hurricanes Harvey and Irma dumped their rain here. I wanted to see what might have been dislodged or uncovered. I was not disappointed. In fact, I am thrilled beyond words!

Feast your eyes on this unique find.

As a kid I was the most creative out of the five of us (I had four brothers), when it came to seeing shapes in clouds. We use to play that game all the time and even sneak a look at the sun every now and then (only because we were told not to).

This rock is totally the cat's pajamas. It looks just like a woman's pocket book to me. Pardon my age, I guess the kids call it a purse or bag nowadays. I sure carried it like one all the way home. I love unusual things. They make me smile every time I look at them. Somehow I feel like this item deserves a name. I think I'll name it, Wilma, in honor of The Flintstones.

wow @themerrylotus what a find... nature shaped this stone to perfection... thanks for sharing this... and keep steeming hot

You are so welcome. I was about to bust a gut I was so excited to share.

The rock is awesome but I'm curious about the wall sounds like a cool project I hope to see you post about the project one day! Funny thing is I just watched the flinststones movie yesterday with my kids!

Haha, funny how life puts like items together (your movie, my rock). I can't wait to do that rock wall. But at the rate I'm going, I might be dead first, lol. I do like the idea of knowing where every rock came from though. The wall is a theme in my house. Each room either has a repurposed or recycled wall in it. I'm currently saving beer and pop cans to cut apart and lay them like tile on a short wall I have. Getting the cans isn't the problem (neighbor drinks lots of beer), it's acquiring the short decorative nail head nails that I have in mind for it (at an affordable price). I'll be sure to share when I get ready.

I look forward to seeing it. I like creative repurposed projects.

Agreed! I'd love to see that wall!

Have you researched it?
It looks like it was made for a reason...
...by an earlier Human or Mother Nature herself!

No, not yet. I agree, the hole looks very deliberate. It's made out of a "softer" stone, haha. I don't know what kind yet, but it isn't granite.

Almost looks like an ancient "Anchor Stone" that were used to stabilize their boats... whatever it is it is really cool. Thanks for sharing!

I live on top of a mountain, but the possibilities are endless. I'm having a ball thinking up ideas. The more I look at it, the more it looks man-made to me too. Maybe I found some super special thingamajig.

What a superb FIND! Enjoy..so happy for you! LIfe is ssssuch a joy!

I'm just thrilled with this. Now I want to know more about it.

What a find!! Love that pocket book and Wilma is the perfect name for it!!!

Haha, it makes me chuckle every time I walk past it now. I even say to one of my dogs the other day, yabba-dabba-do.

There are such wonderful shapes to be found in nature, everything that we can imagine has been imaged by her.

Absolutely! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Oh my goodness that is a treasure!

Every time I look at "Wilma" it brings me joy. The more I look at it, the more it looks like it might have been a hand tool, perhaps of native peoples. I've sent a picture to our historical artifact society. I'm curious what they will say.

It really does look like a tool, or hand worked for sure. I look forward to hearing what the experts say.
