*Growth of human population

Man, due to the influence on nature, became the most powerful factor in the biosphere. Important characteristic of human population is the growth. It is assumed that ten thousand years ago 4 million people lived on earth and it is expected that by 2025 there will be 8 BILLION people on earth!

It is quite clear that every increase in the number of a plant or an animal species reflects on their living environment. For humans, life space isn't a limiting factor because he destroys many natural communities and alters that space in his favour.

Increased population does not only need more living space but also more and more food and energy.
There is a discrepancy between the growing need for food and its production. Moreover, uneven consumption of food is very characteristic on our planet.

Climate conditions are also important for food production. Natural disasters (floods, droughts, etc.) often apply big damages and economy losses. That was the reason why in Rome, in 1947, the UN conference adopted a declaration on combating world hunger. Creation of world supply of grain to help the most vulnerable and the establishment of a fund for the development of underdeveloped countries was proposed.

There are still a lot of unused food sources. Japan was the first to use seaweed as food.
A large part of plant and animal species could be used for food.

Man uses only a small part of our natural wealth, mostly because of habit, prejudices and education.
