Chitral is a District in (KPK) Province of Paksitan. It is on the western bank of Chitral River and at the foot of (25,289 feet) of the Hindu Kush Mountain Range. Chitral City is 365 km from the Peshawar and is connected with dir through Lowari Pass.

In the Century AD, Chitral was occupied by Kaniska, the Buddhist ruler of the Kushan Empire.
After, the chineese captured it in 4th Century AD.
Then it was under Raees tule from 1320 to 15th Century.
Onward 1571 it was ruled by Katur Dytnasty.
In 1895 princely (Mehtar of Chitral) state within Indian Empire. The Status was Maintain after its accession to Pakistan in 1947.
Finally the princely state abolished in 1969 and chitral was made District of KPK.

Is the highest peak of Hindu Kush Range, Located in Khber Pakhtunkha (chital) Pakistan.
Its height is 25,289 feet. The mountain was first climbed by Norwegian expedition in 1950.

Wildlife:
The park is famous for its Markhor , the recent estimated indicate a population size of 650. |The species does not appear to be resident, visiting the park occansionally.

Mammals:
Mammals in the park include Snow leopard, Kashmir Markhor,Siberian ibex, Ladakh urial, Black bear, Tibetan, Wolf, Red fox, Yellow throated martin and Himalayan otter.
Birds:
Common birds in the park are Lammergier vulture, Himalayan Griffon vulture, Golden eagle, Demosille crane, Peregrine falcon, Himalayan snow cock, monal, Snow partidge and rock Partrige.

Polo match in Shandur chitral
As polo is the game of king, which is played in chitral for over the centuries. It has been played between the traditional rival teams of Gilgit and Chitral, each summer month of july on the Shandur(3734 meter) the highest polo ground in the world.

A three day tournaments by chitral and Gilgit polo clubs and local administration.
Activities in shandur includes dance and music by different groups, trout fishing, mountaineering, trekking, hiking, horse ridding and para gliding etc.
