Goldenrods and wild black-eyed susans

Hello, there. Enjoy this passacaglia in a deciduous forest after some fall rains.

Jewelweed (Impatiens)

I find flame colored flowers quite charming. You can stay here, though. No need to introduce another overly successful plant to my delicate ecosystem. I'll remember you.

This is the elusive pea I've been following. In previous visits to this enchanted forest, most were not even fruiting yet.

This time, I found a viable pod. It is slightly fuzzy. I haven't seen the flower. And I would very much like to. So I will cultivate this specimen. I'll grow it in place of the perennial fuzzy bean I was attempting. Neither the old seed nor the new one germinated.

A fallen twig found itself lodged in the crotch of a different plant. The lichen on that twig is saturated, or perhaps it just looks sludgy.

Spotted this ferocious predator using water tension to its advantage. What do they eat? Mosquito larvae? Tadpoles? Minuscule fish?

This was my favorite scene of the day. Lots of moss plus a saprotrophic fungus on an ancient fallen tree.

I hope you enjoyed your little taste of some of the allstars of the glen.
