Winter in Edmonton was weird this year. It started snowing on Halloween then warmed up a bit. We had little snow after that until January.
Then it got crazy cold for a few weeks (-20s to -30s C, up to -40s with windchill). We escaped to warmer climates for 2 weeks and avoided more cold temperatures, snow falls and blowing snow warnings.
Thankfully, since landing back into winter, there has been lots of sunshine and warmer temperature, even a few days breaking the freezing mark. We were able to get out sledding with friends last week and today we were out skating in the beautiful sunshine.
The warm weather has definitely wrecked havoc on the ice conditions, but the kids still had fun skating around and playing with their friends.
I don't know if we'll get more chances for outdoor skating and sledding this season, but we're definitely pining for spring with the sunshine and teasing temperatures.
